Technically, you're on the money with switching the phone's email client to POP3 and never delete from server. All of that can be done through the mail setup app on the phone.
If you want to get creative, create a new gmail account for the client, set the reply address on the new account to the original email account, and forward a copy of all incoming mail to the new gmail account. That way everything comes to the iPhone but now you are protecting the user from him/herself -- s/he can delete away on the iPhone but can't access the original email account unless connected through Outlook.

Try doing a restore from your summary page in itunes on your computer. If that doesn't work, make an appointment at an apple store or call 800myiphone to get it replaced.

Double tap the screen with 3 fingers and it will unzoom. Then to switch the feature off,
go to settings, accessability and turn off zoom feature.
Hope this helps and if so please vote.

Receiving emails on an iPhone can be a convenient and helpful feature of the phone.
Emails can build up, however, and take up quite a bit of memory on your phone if you don't delete them.
Even after you send an email to the trash can, it should still be deleted from the trash can to be completely removed from your iPhone.
1
Click on the mail icon on your iPhone's homepage.
The icon is blue with a photo of an envelope on it, and can be found on the first page by default.
2
Click on the name of an email account. If you have multiple accounts linked to your iPhone, go to "Mailboxes" and then select one account.
3
Tap the "Trash" icon. 4
Click the "Edit" icon in the top-right corner of the screen, above the list of trashed items.
5
Choose "Delete All" from the bottom of the screen. Repeat steps 2 to 5 to empty the trash cans for your other email accounts, if desired. http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhone_User_Guide.pdf&usg=AFQjCNE6a6zdONxg4NpHwp5Ra_tL2I_wHg Iphone users guide
