There is no requirement for the water inlet, but the drain hose does, one it comes out of the machine it needs to go up to roughly the height of the machine before it goes into the drain. Hope this helps
The only thing that needs lubrication is the guide pole that hold the weight plates with silicone Napa or Pyrol brand is good and apply depending usage at least once a week. Procedure is use a cloth spray lubricant into cloth and rub cloth onto poles this clean and lubricate.
