The lock on my Hoover Nextra front loader washing machine snapped off when attempting to open the door on completion of wash. Can this be repaired

if its a front loader remove lid and plug u can get the door open from top with a long screw driver and a bit of patiace

sounds like the door lock mechanism. if this cannot signal it has engaged, to the board, no other function will work (you don't want the washer going with the door open, trust me :) )

This is a common and easily fixed problem. The door should NOT be opened after the wash is completed. You have to wait for AT LEAST 2 minutes to try the door, do not use force. There is a built in mechanism for most front loaders to delay the door opening, so be patient.
If you have used force you have already damaged the door lock, so replace. You are lucky if the door can be opened after the lock sign goes off - otherwise you just have to change the door lock.

Your door lock/latch is broken, this is a common issue with front loading washing machines and the only way to fix it is to replace the door switch.

it may be a stuck cycle. try to unplug it for 20-30 min and try again.

Thanks for using FixYa. The start and pre-wash usually flash due to a clogged drain hose or the water pump. You’ll need to drain the water out of the base and also check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine). If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Either clip on the door is faulty or its the door interlock in which the door locks into easily replaced by undoing the clip pullling back the door rubber and replacing ..
