check for bad solder connections on the amp IC's and voltage regulator - really common problem with technics amps

Some amps have a single RCA socket for a powered sub. If it has not got one of these then the amp has no output for a powered sub. If so then you can only use a none powered subwoofer, which will connect via the speakers of the amp, see the subwoofer manual for how to do this.

Amplifiers get hot. The more you crank the volume up (or use extended for extended periods), the more current is required. When it gets hot, there is a fan motor (on the back), that should turn on. I believe your fan motor (brush) is worn out and therefore non-functional. Under this condition when the system overheats, it automatically changes mode to protect circuits.

Also note: if it works when you initially turn it on (cold) for a few minutes it should work fine...until it starts getting hot inside the case.

THe amp has detected a problem and shutdown to prevent further damage. This unit has 2 amp pacs inside and one or both have failed. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. The main amp pac is an SVI3206 and can be purchased online for about $60.
