SOURCE: my kenwood krf-v4060d reciever on/off switch is faulty.
The problem is not likely to be the switch itself. The unit is rpobably going into "protect" mode because of a problem internally. Try removing all the cables and try to turn on the unit. If the behavior remains the same, the output section requires repair. The most common failure is the output transistors. Expect a parts cost in the $40-$60 range.

Unfortunately, I do not have a schematic diagram. However, having delt with these kinds of problems on TVs, stereos, VCRs, etc., I would say, over 90% of the time, you won't need a schematic to figure out the problem. Chances are that a solder joint slightly cracked, and possibly broke a trace. I would inspect the circuit boards carefully, especially the legs of the transformers, relays, and capacitors. Unless you can find another owner, the schematics are usually hard to find, and when you do, they can be expensive, so I would try spotting some physical damage before expending the money for a schematic. You only need them maybe once every 10 or 20 years on these machines, normally. Good luck, hope you can see and fix the problem!

Blinking indicates that the power source has shut itself down because another component has died and it's shorting it. Unless you have experience in electronics it's time to take the receiver to a repair shop.

i'm not the perfect expert in this but did you try removing all speaker, rca,s video, etc from the back and seeing if something maybe back feeding to the receiver. the red light blinking usually means its detecting a short somewhere and it goes in a fail safe mode to prevent more damage. if it stays on with everything disconnected the problem is with something else. try them one at a time to isolate the problem. hope this helps thank you.
