SOURCE: One of our office phones is set up for voice mail

You need to go into system programming and set that extension to "Forward no answer" to the extension of the voicemail.

If you dont know what that means, I would call someone in, as you can ruin your system by doing the wrong things.

Nor ringing long enough before going to voice mail

Try going into your settings/call settings/call divert.
Go into Call Divert and cancel all diverts.
This should solve your problem.

Phone rings 10 times before voice mail picks it up, how do i change it?

In my VZ wireless I have to change it by calling tech support.
Your carrier may not offer it. Since your phone needs to be found, the number of rings you hear and the intercept time may be different. The stock answer is "if your cell is close to a tower it will work after X rings".

Need more rings

You have to change the rings from the voice mail server. If you don't know your way around the server, its best to get a local NEC tech although it is fairly simple to navigate. Depends on your skill. Typical default password for the server is NEC

Voice mail recording for my new panasonic digital phone

For voice mail service subscribers
If you subscribe to a flat-rate service
package that includes Caller ID, call
waiting, voice mail, and unlimited
local/regional/long distance calls, please
note the following:
L To use the voice mail service provided
by your service provider/telephone
company rather than the unit's
answering system, turn off the
answering system (page 30).
L To use this unit's answering system
rather than the voice mail service
provided by your service provider/
telephone company, please contact
your service provider/telephone
company to deactivate your voice mail
service.
If your service provider/telephone
company cannot do this:
- Set this unit's "Ring count"
setting so that this unit's answering
system answers calls before the
voice mail service of your service
provider/telephone company does.
It is necessary to check the number
of rings required to activate the
voice mail service provided by your
service provider/telephone
company before changing this
setting.
- Change the number of rings of the
voice mail service so that the
answering system can answer the
call first. To do so, contact your
service provider/telephone
company.

Call will not Transfer to Voice Mail

Typically you want your phone system to ring your phones (say extension 10, 11 and 15) and then if no one answers after so many rings the call is transfered to the port the voice mail is on (let's say it's port 16) The voice mail is set to answer right away but does not "ring" until the call is transfered to it. This way (at 4 rings) if a call comes in on line 1 and you answer after 3 rings but a call comes in on line 2 at the same time, the first ring on line 2 will not make the total = 4 and set off the voice mail. I would guess the port at your voice mail is not set to ring and nothing is set up to transfer calls to your voice mail. Did you set this up yourself? How did you program the phone system?

Motorola c290 phone problems

First, try going to motorola.com and downloading their software upgrade. (this is free by the way). You'll just need to connect your phone to the computer with the proper data cable and run the software. This program will do the rest.
