I fiound some beautiful pictures in a manual for the 48" mower deck by John Deere. I haven't
found the 42" diagrams yet, but I can TELL you how it goes on (or is supposed to). Loosen the sheaves (pulleys) and belt guides. The inside of beltl go on back side of each of th 2 blade pulleys. On the discharge side it will come around to the back side of smaller pulley. On left side it will come to back side of the foward pulley. Then it will go around the jacksheave on the engine shaft. Just remember, th notched side or inside of belt will always go to the v side of pulley and the back side or flat side of belt will go to the flat pulleys. Good luck
