If your computer indicates that there's no USB connection to the machine, and therefore the Futura program refuses to start, there are several possibilities. The most likely is your cable is bad, although I have had USB cables that worked fine elsewhere, but didn't on the machine. Try switching the cable you're using with your printer cable.

Sometimes if you originally installed it using one USB port, it doesn't want to work if another port is used. Although I have not had that problem on this line of Futuras, others have. Try switching the port you're using.

Another possibility is the USB plug on the machine doesn't "seat" very well. That's true of all the Futuras. Make sure that the plug is sitting squarely in the machine. Personally, I tape the plug in using masking tape, then plug and unplug it from the computer side.

SOURCE: Singer Quantum Futura CE-200 Problem

My machine did the same thing. I had several frustrated nights ans then it just started to work. Some suggestions that I had was that there may be dust where the units connect. Not sure what I did, but it worked.

SOURCE: Singer Futura CE100 Connect Error. Check that USB cable is connected and power switch is turned on.

So here's what I did and it worked for me. Somehow the WinDriver that is on the software is uninstalling itself and needs to be listed with the drivers for Jungo for this software to work. I installed the software when I first got the machine with no problems, then suddenly I couldn't open it and was receiving the same connection error. When you go to http://www.futura-support.com/faq/machine.htm#2 to install the drivers, you'll notice their screen shot shows both the CLEM driver and the WinDriver. Check your machine following their instructions to see if you have both listed under the Jungo driver. If not, go to http://www.jungo.com/st/windriver_usb_pci_driver_development_software.html and select the link under "Available WinDriver Toolkits" for your operating systems (I selected WinDriver USB for Windows). It asks a bunch of questions which I didn't know the answer to so I selected "other" on almost everything then entered "NA"or "?" for the other description. Select Download now and it will need to restart your computer. Once done, I looked at the device manager again and now WinDriver is listed under Jungo and CLEM and the software opens, no problems.

This will at least temporarily solve the issue, however, it's a free trial which means the download will expire at some point. Good news is, the windriver is on the futura disk, I just don't know why it's not installing or staying on the machine. I am sending all of this to Singer to figure out what they're missing in the installation files and hopefully get a fix permanently.

Good luck!

SOURCE: My Singer Futura CE-250 keeps giving me an error

"PC" symbols on the machine panel if it is not connected to PC and switched on is a normal behaviour.
As for communication failure try to remember whether something on your pc has been changed: windows upgrade, machine got connected to another usb port etc. If any of such changes have been made try to reinstall Futura software. Otherwise launch troubleshooting utility and send its report to futura-support.

SOURCE: Singer CE0100 Futura connection error....

newtosinger, you got a very strange answer. Updates with 64bit Vista/XP and Windows 7 platforms support will be released for all Futura models, just due to higher demand updates for newer machine models are released first. So far updates exist for models ce150/250/350 and ses1000/2000. In a few days will be released an update for ce100/200 that use software 2.5.0.0-2.5.0.2. After that will be released an update for older software versions Futura 1.0.0.x (ce100) and 2.0.0.x (ce200/200E)

SINGER® FUTURA QUARTET™ sewing and embroidery machine update doesn't work, failed to initialize security.

This appears to be a Singer Sewing machine, so let's move it from the Computers and Internet category.
Then let's edit the question to fully reflect 'make model (what is is)'.

When software updates fail, the first thing to do is reboot everything fresh. So power down the Singer and then reboot the computer getting the update. Then turn the singer back on. Then get the update again.

There are lots of Futura Quartet models, but there is general help here.

Singer futura quartet seqs 6000 keeps giving me a broken thread error. Thread is not broken and I have done tried the unwaxed dental floss and canned air, Please help

Hello
Embroidery sewing machines will often give this error message due to low "drag" on the thread. Try placing the spool of thread upright into a cup on the floor and lead-up the thread as normal for threading. Make sure that the thread does not catch on the thread lock on the spool.

Happy stitching

Which one is the best for Embroidery Singer XL 420 or Singer SEQs 6000?

Difficult to advise since we really don't know your criteria.

SEQS 6000 FUTURA QUARTET
FWIW, I would be hesitant to purchase a machine with so many functions, ie sewing, embroidery, serging. Seems like a lot of things to go wrong.

XL 420 FUTURA

Your best bet is to do a lot of research on the internet. Read the reviews from people who have purchased these machines. Then go talk to a Singer specialist. Only when you have gathered as much information as you can are you able to make an educated decision.

Singer futura quartet connection error

I need more information to answer this question. Is this a error message on your computer screen? Or on the machine? I know Singer Futura machines require a USB cable connection to work; check USB drivers are installed properly on the compatible version of windows as well.

SINGER QUARTET FOUR IN ONE HOOP ERROR

There are a couple of reasons that this can happen. First, download a patch on the singer Futura support site, www.futura-support.com. Download the patch, close the Futura program and double-click on the downloaded file. It may help with your error.

The second reason it can happen is because the USB plug on these machine is out a little too far, and the cable often doesn't seat quite as solidly as it should. Put the cable plug in the machine, making sure that it sits squarely and securely, and tape it in. When you unplug, do so from the computer side and leave it in

If you've applied the patch and taped the plug, the third reason might be the USB cable itself might have a loose wire, so that it works some time but not all the time. If that seems to be the case, try another cable.

Futura CE 150

There may be a small "DRIVER" needed for the computer to "see" the sewing machine (*make sure machine is turned on!) when the cable is hooked up. (*could be a bad cable try another they are $2 at fry's) This sometimes requires more computer work to make sure the usb cable is connecting the embroidery machine to the computer correctly.
This driver may be located on your Singer Futura Disk? this is not your program to run the singer machine but the one to connect the two so they can communicate embroidery designs and such.
Deep breaths it will never work if it goes out any window.
