I have 2 problems. 1. The orange message light will not stop flashing no matter what I do. 2. Some how the system was switched from touch tone to dial tone. I can't seem to that switched either.

Resetting the voice message waiting indicator
When you receive a new voice mail message, the new message LED on the top of the handset flashes. In the event your message waiting light gets out of sync with your phone company's
voice messaging system, you can manually reset it back to the "No messages waiting" state.
1. Press and hold FiND on the base for five seconds.
Note: The handsets connected to the base will start to beep, however, keep pressing for five seconds.
2. A beep sounds and the message alert tone is reset.
Changing the dial mode
Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most base networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you will need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, please follow the steps below to modify your phone's settings:
1. Press MENU/SELECT.
2. Select the Global Setup menu, and then the Dial Mode submenu.
3. Scroll to highlight Pulse.
4. Press MENU/SELECT. You will hear a confirmation tone.
If you ever need to change the dial mode back to tone dialing, follow the same procedure, but select Tone in step 3.

Finally for future ease of use, here is a link to the user manual were I copied the above information from:

Welcome to Fixya
Dear USer
Place your Extension Phone Near to Main for Few times Until it Beeps.OR it Ask for Registration like Please Register or Something like that.Follow the Steps carefully to Register it...Then Check it for Dial tone to Confirm. Some phones may display that the handset needs to be registered. If this appears-Move the handset near to base/main unit & press the "Prog/Mute". Next, press the "Pager" button on the base unit .Then press the "Prog/Mute" button on the handset again to complete the registration.
Hope you got it....Thanks for Connecting FixYa

I need to reactivate my uniden cordless phone with remote extra handset. It was on a second phone line in my home, and that phoneline has been cancelled. Now, both units are charged, but and plugged into...

This should get the job done for you!

To re-register DXA14588-2 handsets:
  1. Pick up the handset from the base. Press and hold [find handset] on the base.
  2. While holding [find handset], place the handset in the base. The charge/in use LED on the base begins to flash, indicating the base is registering the handset. Wait for at least five seconds.
  3. Pick up the handset from the base and press [talk/flash]. If the display shows TALK, the handset is registered. If not, place the handset in the base to try again.
  4. Press [end].
  5. Place the next handset in the base and wait for at least five seconds. No need to hold [find handset] this time.
  6. Repeat steps 3 - with any other handsets you have.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Good Luck!

GE 25942 dial tone problems

After waiting for over 24 hrs for an answer from FixYa and then they wanted $10.00 and trying to fix it myself, I gave up. Threw all that c$$p into a box, took it back to the store and got my money back. It just wasn't worth the time and aggravation.

Handset has No link to base

I was having the same problem with the same model phone, and fixed the problem by rebooting the phone – unplugging the AC and phone cord from the base station and plugging both back it, then removing and replacing the handset to regenerate the security code.

Handset ?No Link To Base? error and no dial tone

2/29 Have you registered or re-registered the handset?
"No link" can mean handset is not accepting radio wave of base unit. At Mfgr website pull-down operator's manual and look for registration instructions. Some sequence of buttons will create a radio signal from base (have handset off base) then another sequence of buttons on handset will accept radio signal. If handset has "menu" button, try "menu", then "00" (zero zero) then select an accept or "OK" button. Good luck.
