I dropped my camera recently and I've tried various times to turn it on but it refuses to do so. - Canon ... If the battery cover does not press down on the switch the camera won't go on.

Testimonial: "what else can I say? I push the button and it won't turn on. I have rechargeable batteries in it and have made sure they are charged. I have looked into where they go & looks OK, nice and shiny contacts, I don't know what else I can say. I called Canon about it and they no longer repair this camera. I have looked for a replacement, but none of the small camera's have a viewfinder and I cannot see what I want to photograph without one. So I am just out of luck."

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

I had the same problem. Here's the solution. Go into menu settings, then over to tools, select reset all at the bottom of options list. You may have to re-enter the date and time. This solved the low battery problem for me. I hope this helps.

What else can I say? I push the on button and nothing happens. I use re-chargeable batteries and made sure they were charged, even put in another set, just to be sure they were good. Looking into where the batteries go, looks OK. I called Canon & they say they no longer repair this camera. I can't find a replacement camera this size with a view finder and I can't see what I want to take a picture of without it when in full sun. So, I am just out of luck.
