If evaporator starts to freeze up the ice accumulated serves as an insulator and the temps go up. If you turn it off and let ice buildup melt the unit will work fine again until it refreezes.

Check if unit has a device to prevent ice build up. If so, it is not working. If warm moist air is entering the area of evaporator coil, that could also be causing the buildup.

I have a Danby wine fridge. It's a dual zone and only one side cools all the way to almost freezing. It's dwc2121bls. Doesn't matter what I set the temperatures to. The other side stats warm. Both fans...

Guessing here, Bad thermostat would affect both sides, not just half. I would look for a door or damper door, an obstruction in the air path between the two, where the inside fan lives and on down to the other side if defrosting does not show any difference after plugging it back in a day or two later. If it shows a difference, then there is a defrost problem, deftost cycle not working.

Wine cooler frost buildup

Some dual temperature wine coolers build up frost in the rear and top of the main compartment. Check the defrost timer, located either inside the main compartment near the light, or outside on the back of the wine cooler near the compressor. Look in the owner's manual for the correct settings for the defrost timer and adjust yours as needed. Make sure that you have the wine cooler in a spot where the outside temperature remains at or near room temperature to reduce frost buildup.

Cannot get Danby Silhouette 166 dual wine cooler to change temperature. It stays at 70 (both upper and lower). Can you help. Just bought used brought it home and it won't cool.

I also just brought home a used Danby Silhouette 166-bottle wine fridge and it is not cooling. Did you have someone come look at yours and did you get it fixed?
