Normally as loud buzzing from the fridge on that frequency it just the icemaker cycling, the water inlet solenoid valve often makes a buzzing noise depending upon water pressure. Other than the noise, there is nothing to worry about.

Testimonial: "We don't have an icemaker"

Check the fan under the fridge. Sometimes dust, dirt, or critters can cause interference that will make noise when the fridge cycles.

ARS2665AC - Every 3 minutes noise

Unless this is somthing to with the ice maker, it is likely to be the refrigeration pump cycling on and off. It is possible that the pump is being stalled upon start up. Another possibility is that the pump vibrates more as the pressure is being built up and perhaps one of the rubber mountings has worn or perished. As long as the fridge is still working properly as you say then this should not be a cause for concern unless it becomes annoying. Regards

LOUD BUZZING SOUND WHEN DISPENSING WATER THRU THE DOOR

The water control valve on rear of refrigerator is weakening. That is typical sound for a coil that opens the side that dispenses water or ice tray refills to vibrate or buzz when weakening. If I had you r model number I could give you the part number. They are not expensive and easy to replace. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Hi, we just purchased an 5 year old GE profile refrigerator with full door/bottom freezer from a private party. It was working fine at his house. The refrigerator has a loud buzzing every 1/2 for a few...

The buzz is most likely coming from the water valve that feeds the ice maker. If the ice maker is not being used the buzz will continue unless the power is disconnected to the valve. It does not hurt anything but can be annoying.

If the ice maker does not have the shut off handle (arm) to lift then a solution would be to unplug the ice maker itself. If you look at the ice maker in the freezer it is usually held on by 3 screws to the side wall. If you remove these screws there will be a wire plug that you can unplug and remove the entire ice maker and free up room. With it disconnected the buzz will stop.

Loud periodic buzzing

Are you sure this noise is not just the ice maker trying to cycle without water? If it is not turned off it will dry cycle every 15 min or so.

Loud buzzing noise from compressor area and freezer not cold enough

I have a 1.5 year old GE refrigerator and freezer. This unit had not given me any problems until 2 days ago when I constantly heard a loud buzzing sound coming from the freezer. I called GE and Best Buy (bought it there) and asked to troubleshoot this over the phone. They suggested sending a technician over for $100 just for the visit + labor + parts which could add up to hundreds of dollars. So, I researched the web and blogs like this. The answer to my problem was simple. Something that I placed inside the freezer was blocking the air circulation vent. So, I turned off the whole refridgerator and I removed everything from my freezer. For good measure I dislodged some ice and frost that had developed over the vent. I carefully put back everything into the freezer, but this time being careful not to block the vent. I turned on the power and voila! No more buzzing sound!!! I hope this works for you too.
