SOURCE: Changing a bit on my dremel

Depends on the head you have on the tool. If it takes collets, you need to match the collet size to the shaft on the bit. There are I believe 4 different collet sizes.

You have the threaded shaft which is hollow and connected to the tool. then you put the proper sized collet inside that shaft and half of it will stick out. This is what actually holds the bit. Next, you put the 'nut' on the shaft, but don't tighten it yet. Put the bit into the hole in the nut as far as it willl go, then back it out about 1/8 inch. Now you can tighten the nut by holding down the button on the front of the tool until the nut does't turn any more. You can buy a 'nut' that works with any bit, no collets used, for about $10. Home depot, Lowes etc or online.

If you're not sure what I'm talking about, you can probably find pics of collets etc. by going to google images.
It would probably pay to contact Dremel or look online for the manual also.

SOURCE: My Dremel tool motor still works but shaft won't turn?

Here's the email from I got from Dremel (in my case the flex coupling broke):
Inside the tool is a flex coupling and spline driver.

The flex coupling is # 2615294309 and the price is $ 1.25.
This is the hollow plastic sleeve about 1" long with grooves on the
inside, that goes between the motor shaft and the output shaft.

The spline driver is # 2615294308 at $ 1.00.
Spline driver sits on the direct end of the motor shaft. The flex
coupling sits over the spline driver. Spline driver is about 1/4",
hard plastic with grooves on the outside.

Total shipping for orders under $ 5.00 is $ 2.50. Orders over $
5.00 is $ 4.00.

SOURCE: One end of the 225

To use the flex shaft, you need to remove the bit collet. Included in the kit is a nut looking item--mine is silver. It has a square end and screws on to the end of the dremel. It is simlar to the collet, but is slightly smaller. Then you place the square end of the flex shaft into the nut and screw the shaft on to the dremel.
Hope that helps

Why does Flexshaft get hot after a couple seconds

Perhaps you are bending the shaft too much, or the original lube in the flex shaft has been compromised. Take it back to the dealer, for an exchange.

I bought a dremel 4000 on ebay and it didn't have a manual with it - I need basic instructions to use the drill bits I purchased that go with it. Is there an adaptor that I need to use them?

Your drill bits side, should have a twisting hand tightening head into which you insert the bits, and have fun. If this is missing, you can either buy it, at dremel stores, or get a nut of the same thread and get the job done.
