I accidentally deleted an answer I wanted to hear on an AT&T 1719 answering machine. I read the manual and noticed that messages cannot be recovered. Who makes an answering machine with an "undelete" function, the way machines used to be made for decades?

Once you delete a message on a consumer answering machine, it's gone. The only option is to save all messages until the machine signals that it's out of room. Even with a tape-based answering machine or professional voicemail systems, once you erase a message, it's gone.

How do you retreive messages from another phone on the att model 1719 answering machine?

Dial your number, when the AT&T 1719 answers and the announcement begins playing(if the unit's answer function is turned off, it will answer after 10 rings) dial your three digit security code(default is 500). If the announcement continues playing after entering the security code, press # to end the announcement or wait for the announcement to end and re-enter the security code. The answer machine will announce the number of messages then begin playback of the messages. I have included a link to the manual, remote operation of the AT&T 1719 answer machine is on page 8.

Is a way to recover deleted answering machine messages?

The link to the manual:

http://telephones.att.com/docMgt/public/art/162/1717_manual.pdf

Have reviewed and it depends on if it was a saved message or if it was just in the in box with all being deleted.

Read the manual carefully.

"Extension in Use"

I found the solution accidentally. I just unplugged the phone from the jack and plugged it back in, and that did the trick.
