My chainsaw has leaked bar-chain oil ever since I bought it. Especially when it sits in the case. I am always having to clean up large puddles of oil in the case. is there a fix for this?

It's a seal somewhere either on the reservoir, or the 'feed' to the bar.
But in the short term, if you must use it, the simplest way of stopping the leak, is to not store it with any oil in it, until you locate the source of the leak.
That should help, but I'll wish you good luck never the less ;)
& plz don't forget to rate, thankyou :)

Most saws have a tendacy to leak after they are used. After use, just "burb" the oil fill cap to relieve any pressure. The closed oil system will siphon out all of the oil.

My poulan pro chainsaw dies when I give it gas and I think the bar and chain oil is leaking out during storage.

try and run it with the muffler off the build up with carbon and restricted the exhaust flow as for the oil leak mine the screws became loose behind the clutch for the oil pump

Puddle of oil in case when not in use. If using it then shut off and sit it down leaves puddle of oil where it was sitting.

There will always be an amount of oil on the bottom of the saw, the oiling system is a constant loss system ie onto the chain and away, there are many places for the oil spray to sit in covers, which when sat will drip out, they rely on saw dust to dry the oil up, however if there is not a great deal of saw dust about the oil will not get dryed up and will drip under the saw.Unless the oil leak is excessive i would leave well alone.

Bar oil leaks into storage case when chainsaw not in use???? Poulan Prow, PP4620 AVX 46 cc

The easy fix is to drain the oil tank when not in use. Many saws will leak some oil initially, but should not continue to do so. If it is making a large puddle, oil is getting past the oil pump which may be worn from long use. Make sure the tank vent is not plugged as heat from the engine can increase pressure in the tank thus forcing oil out. Hope this helps!

I have a poulan pro chaisaw leaking bar oil from the bottom

Remove the bar and chain. Clean the oil port on the side of the engine and inspect any seals for damage. Start the engine without the bar--it should ooze out oil when engine is running fairly fast. If ok, clean the oil passages in the drive end of the bar--particularly the small passages that lead from the large holes into the chain groove. Clean the entire groove and make sure the end sprocket (if equipped) turns freely. Reassemble the bar and chain--tighten the tension until the chain does not droop from the bar bottom (chain cuts toward you on the bottom run), and yet moves freely by hand. Hope this helps!

I have a Poulan Pro 380 that is leaking bar oil.I can fill it with oil and it will leak out during the night.

I have 7 chainsaws. 6 of them if I forget to drain the oil reservoir will oil the surface of what they are sitting on. What you are seeing is normal.

IMO; use of the oiler creates a siphon. Any oil left in the tank will continue to siphon until the reservoir is empty. I could be wrong, I have been before.

Draining the tank works, nothing else I've tried does. HTH

Chain Lube Leak

It is the nature of the beast. Many chainsaws suffer from this malady. I own a bunch.

Try loosening the oil cap prior to bed.

Chain moves while idle

Hello there. Regarding the bar oil, many loggers plan their work so that they are out of bar oil at the same time that they quit for the day because bar oil has a tendency to leak. Another method that has some success is to mix your bar oil with a heavier oil but the trade off might be less lube getting to the chain when you need it.

Regarding the chain moving in idle, this is another common problem. You can usually slow the idle down until the chain stops, as you indicated, but I too have had chain saws where I finally just decided to live with it and be extra attentive to what was going on.
