SOURCE: Where should the Zoom G1X go in a pedal chain?

From an electrical engineering standpoint, an expression or volume pedal should be near the end of the chain so that the other effects don't try to process very weak signals when the volume is very low.

This gives better signal to noise ratio.

SOURCE: The zoom g1x is dead. no power. tried adapter from

The first thing i would check is the ac adapter .Make sure you are getting the correct voltage from the adapter. If you know how to use a voltmeter or know someone that has a volt meter, check it with it unplugged from the guitar pedal, most of these have a voltage range from 9 to 12 volts dc.you could also take it to your local radio shack or local repair shop and they will be glad to check it for you for free.after you confirm the adapter and it is ok then the next thing you will check is the input jack assy on the pedal, input jack assy are soldered onto the board at the factory, these jacks ,no matter what it is are famous for cracked solder joints where the pins of the jack go into the board because of stress delivered to it during plug ins and plug outs.if you dont know how to use a sldering gun or dont want to you will have to take it it to your local repair shop-cost should be around 15.00, 20.00 tops, make sure that your guitar cables are good, check the 9volt battery inside the unit if it takes one,if its dead that could be your problem,if all above fails i would send it back to the factory or wherever you bought it.,good luck been playing for about 30 years myself, rock on

D5 error for my zoom g1xn. what is the solution for that?

A D5 error? Are you sure you're not reading it as "d5"? If you're in the Drive Module, d5 is "distortion+". If you're in the Delay Module, d1-d9 are settings that control the mixing ratio of effect sound versus original sound and the feedback amount. I'd refer to a user manual here:

Hope this helps you.

My zoom g1x theres no sound.all power are working lcd light are on.but the sound cannot come out.can any one help me..

What letters / numbers that appears on the screen?
If the display is normal, and you can switch to other banks, and can edit each bank, then the problem of no sound, is at the pre-amp IC input, output amp, or CODEC converter.
This is the overall image of G1X inside.zoom-g1x-theres-no-sound-all-power-2ss5ycyvkoajtv035dpuezke-2-0.jpg Next, we zoom-in the middle of picture above.
See the next picture.
IC2 (left) is input pre-amp IC (NJM2100).
IC4 (middle) is the CODEC IC (WM8734).
IC5 (right) is the IC output (NJU7082).zoom-g1x-theres-no-sound-all-power-2ss5ycyvkoajtv035dpuezke-2-1.jpg

Test whether the input IC is working normally, turn ON G1X, plug the guitar, go to BYPASS/TUNER menu. When the TUNER function could work, certainly input IC is not damaged.
Means only two possibilities, namely CODEC and output IC. That is not easily tested, except in specific ways.

May also, there are problems in the input / output socket.
Turn ON G1X. Try the following (see figure below):
  • Test the output socket. Touch pin output socket (right red arrow) with finger / screwdriver / whatever. If sound is heard in the amplifier, the output socket is normal.
  • Test the input socket, Same as above. (left red arrow). (if this happen in this point, problem is clear).

NOTES:
If lcd light are on (as you say), but appearing G1 or d5 or bt, and the system are hang / frozen, this is a different issue to the one described above, and dealt with in different ways too.

Some possibilities:
  • Damaged on the DC-IN socket.
  • Broken solder joints on the center pin of the DC IN socket (see figure: pin 1 on DC208B).
  • Damaged (broken) in D2 or R54

Is the unit old?? Is it stored in an environment that has temperature fluctuations?? It could be the terminals on the input of the unit have dry jointed. This is when the solder lifts away from the circuit board. I have had the same problem on my ZOOM MRS1608 recording desk. Resolder the connections on the input. The base plate will problably remove easy enough to get to the point where the adapter is soldered onto the circuit board.

Good luck
