Remove the needle plate (by pushing on right rear corner of plate) and clean out any lint build up from the feed dogs and replace plate.

SOURCE: owners manual

Unfortunately this is a purchase site. The closest I could get would be for an Activa 220 230 240 . You can download the manual.
Check the picture on no. 7 and see if this isn't your machine.

Hope this helps. Luck!

SOURCE: needle always stops in up position

I have the Activa 131 and while the needle is made to stop in the up position, all you have to do is push the bottom of the peddle quickly with your heel and the needle goes into the material and stays until you start sewing again. Hope this is helpful.

SOURCE: old bernina 830 stitching problem: tight

Sounds like you need to adjust the tension. Probably a good idea to oil this older machine before you adjust. Also look for and clean out any lint or debris in bobbin case and around foot area.

SOURCE: How do you oil a Bernina Activa 130?

Remove needle, needleplate, presser foot and bobbin case. Now take a lint brush and clean under the feed dogs and hook area. take the bernina oiler(must be bernina oil only) now place a drop just below where the bobbin case clip on and one small drop under the feed dog area. replace items, sew out a test sample and away you go.

I have a bernina activa 130 and when you turn the wheel to insert the needle into the fabric the needle breaks. I am not sure what to check.

Check that your needle is centred when straight-stitch is selected and / or that you have the correct stitch-plate fitted. Is the needle breaking because it is hitting the stitch-plate or is it breaking when the needle goes down through the slot/hole in the stitch-plate. If you are sewing zig/zag or patterns, you must have a slotted stitch-plate fitted. If it's breaking when the needle passes below the stitch-plate, then take the bobbin /bobbin case out and the hook/shuttle and see if it still happens. If it does, the timing on your machine may be out and need professional adjustment. If it doesn'y happen after removing just the bobbin case, make sure the bobbin case is being correctly fitted.

I have a problem changing the needle in my activa 130 bernina

You will find a screw on the side near the top of your needle. Just loosen it and the needle will come out. Then put in a new one, pushing it all the way up with the flat side toward the back and tighten the screw. Finger tight is usually good enough.
Hope this helped.

Stitching too tight on top

I found a screw on the bobbin case (where you put the cotton for the underside stitching) which was very loose. I tightened it and that created more tension for the bottom thread which solved the problem.

Operating manual

I also have a Bernina Activa 125 w/o a manual. (is it contagious?)!
I figured it out by experimenting:
Use a #3 foot
Hit the "0" to make a buttonhole
On the LED you can see the left vertical blinking
Start stitching your first line, stop when you want
Now press the reverse pad
Start stitching
It will stitch in reverse w/ a straight stitch only
This provides you with a "guide line" next to your first one
When you stop at the end, push the reverse pad
Start stitching
It will make 2 small zig zags and then automatically make the end of the hole (wide)
Then it starts moving up your guide line in a mini zig zag
Stop at the end, then push the reverse pad, it will make the wide end of the hole.
Viola

Now a keyhole end ... haven't tried it yet, but I think this is the other one the Activa 125 makes
