Hey guys, I just picked up a Samsung smart TV UN60JU6500FXZA 2nd hand.. Seemed like its in great shape, EXCEPT! The internet connectivity doesn't seem to want to work! The TV doesn't detect ANY Wifi signals; router is 3ft away from TV and works just fine. When connected via ethernet, the TV states it's connected to the internet, and it updated firmware no problem, but will refuse to access Smart Hub. Also states there is no Wifi MAC address, IP address. Checked out the service menu to see if anything looks odd there. I'm no expect by any means, but trying to test the WIFI in service menu fails. MAC address fails. I've done all the basic troubleshooting on this thing including factory reset from TV menu and service menu, i've tried changing DNS to 888 and 8844, tried changing wifi regions in service menu and resetting SVC, tried resetting Apps in service menu.. One thing i found interesting was that in service menu the S/N was changed to that of another TV a valid S/N too! but totally different from whats on the sticker on back of the TV. I figured someone was trying to get free warranty or something? But could this have messed up the new firmware that I just downloaded? Don't think so, since I then went online, found a newer firmware for my specific model of TV this time, and it was actually quite newer rev 1460 i believe? compared to 1450 that downloaded... I loaded 1460 onto a USB stick and fed it to the TV, and still no luck. Anyway, i'm quite out of options here, but I really want network capability here to watch some 4K Netflix and have a SMART TV once and for all... PS. I had another samsung smart tv JU6400 the day before on this WIFI network, and it worked great! However the screen was scratched and i returned it to where i got it from, and got the next model up. I have a theory that the WIFI card is bad? or something got changed in service menu.. BUT I don't understand why the ethernet wouldn't connect if bad wifi card was the case? I've seen SO many, if not all the posts regarding samsung smart tv internet issues its making my eyes bleed, and none of the solutions have worked so far.. Please help! oh and apologies for the long post, too many details
You mention two separate issues, WiFi and smart hub. As you know Samsung built in manual is the worst idea ever. There is no picture of the complete rear panel connection for example.
If the smart hub is the actual WiFi antenna then if your system doesn't recognize Smart Hub then you have a bad smart hub.
to test smart hub plug something into hub ( DVD HDMI, video game) If your remote has smart hub button press and see what appears. Otherwise select source on remote see if your attached item appears. (That would indicate smart hub does talk to TV)!
Since you can access your network when hard wired your network password is stored.
Once you have verified Smart Hub is functional then work on WiFi.
i will say my Samsung is 3 ft from my router and hard wired for better streaming speed.
I use Bluetooth access to share photos from IPads.
I would leave TV hard wired.
Testimonial: "Thanks for the reply! So when I try to find any networks via WIFI it doesn't find a single one, tried WPS, choosing SSID manually, and WPS PIN, all to no avail. I've even tried changing the 2.4Ghz channel on my router. Nadda. Only when the TV is hard wired is when it actually says on the TV that there is indeed an internet connection, but once I fire up Smart Hub via the remote control button, it attempts to load Smart Hub for the first time - It goes thru - I select English, then it says my wired connection has an internet connection, then it tries to download terms and conditions - and this is where it gets held up.. It says downloading for about a minute, and then comes up with an "your internet is unstable (999) error" and can't proceed to connect to Smart Hub.. I know the WIFI and bluetooth share share the same module, and I can see the BT MAC address under service menu, and I can also see the LAN MAC address under some network settings.. However, the WIFI MAC address is 00.00.00.00.00.00 ....... ideas?"
Did you try attaching something to smart hub and view as input? Later today I will try to access my settings and get back. Maybe you can ask the seller if you can try a different Smart Hub, I hear they fail often, of course after I bought.
Isn't the Smart Hub built right into these smart TVs? Anyway, yes, when i plug in my PS4 and Android box (into the TV as there's no separate smart hub box) they both show up on as "HDMI 1" and "HDMI 2" on top of screen when i hit "Source" on the remote...
Otherwise, when I hit the Smart Hub button on the remote, it does go to Smart Hub, but again, gets held up at the "downloading terms and conditions" and then says there's network issues.
My Smart Hub is separate I have 65 inch 4 K suggest you go on line to Amazon for list for your TV. Maybe your SH was not given to you. Mine has a six foot cord and has USB , HDMI ports, digital optical port.
I think you may not have been given this.
Hope this helps.
Thanks but i know the smart hub is built into these newer TVs.. im leaning toward a hardware failure at this point.
Went back the box I pictured is called a port extender, so you don't have to try to get behind TV, sorry for mis leading you. I searched on web found a message about resetting from 0.0.00.00 ........ To 8.88 ........ Try Smart hub on Samsung in search , I lost the link.
Well, had a technician come out today to check it out.. he ended up replacing the main board! Now everything works just fine!!
