The problem could be in the inverter board located near the display.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

Hello; I am John at J D Electronics in Poland Maine. I have had a few Polaroid model TDA03211C in my shop that would show Polaroid on screen and then loose the backlights. but not always, but would still have sound and remote control abilities. Many of these Polaroids and Memorex 32" sets have the same design. There is the main board in the bottom of the large metal box with the power supply/ ivnverter board in the top. On a few of these I found opened Caps to the right of the 2 large ivnverter transformers on the left. These were labeled EC17 and EC18. They are 10ufd @ 450V and 105 degree C. Replacing these 2 caps has now fixed 3 of these sets. John

power board 15-860-az0-ipos150h capacitors or to light weight they heat up and burn out replace with heavier capacitors if you dont know how to do it take to tv repair fixed mine very cheap works great now unplug tv take off middle black center section after u unscrew it push black panel downward take off only three screws remove metal panel the board that has the defective capacitors is the top one that your power supply cord plugs in to remove board dont touch electronics of the board because of static electricity in your body take board to have capacitors replaced or pick up some at radio shack and replace them yourself soldering iron is required to do the work yourself
