`Sony CD player won't play burned discs

I have a Sony cd player in my car (is about ten years old now but was expensive) and find that it won''t play burned discs although they play fine on all the players in my home. I have bought several different kinds of disc even the most expensive ones with the same result.

I was recently told it maybe because I am using CD-R discs and that Sony machines often need CD+R discs. I have searched for these online and cannot find a supplier.

Its a pain in the butt as it means I can't listen to the music I have paid to download and have to go and buy CD's instead.

Can you please advise?

Thanks
Gail

I've tried several makes of Cd-R but not sure if I've tried Sony discs themselves. Might give it one last go and if that doesn't work I'll maybe get back to you. Many thanks

Many of the older Car CD Players will not play CD-R's or they may with static sounds behind the music. What you need to do is try using a different brand of cd-r disc. If this doesn't work then it means that you may need to replace the CD player because the model that you have may not be decoded in order to play CD-R, CD-RW, play MP3's or anything of that such.
Get back to me if this doesn't work I'll help you square it away.

Hey gorgeousgail, I would probably get ready to have the CD-player replaced if this solution doesn't work out for you. I found that memorex disc woek in these CD-players try them!

Sony 5 disc cd player won't play 5 cds but plays just 1 disc

Check the mode of operation. There can be a setting where it just plays one disc. Random or mixed will give you more songs to get to other discs.

Why won't a CD-RW disc play in my car CD player?

Some of the older cd players, car or otherwise, just aren't capable of recognizing CD-RW's. The player in my 10 year old Ford Mondeo doesn't, but the updated model player in the newer Mondeo does play CD-RW's.

I have a 2001 Honda Crv, the cd player keeps ejecting CDs before it has the chance to load them. The radio works fine, and I gave tried burnt and original disc CDs. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Are these CDs that you burned yourself? Older CD players won't recognize the audio file format of this kind of recording, only the established file format that typical retail CDs have used for years. In recent years, CD players have been developed to recognize more file types than just the old format; but with an older player like you have in your car, it wouldn't recognize what you were trying to play, as if you put a DVD in. It balks, and spits it out. You can burn CDs with the correct file format, you just need the appropriate software or file translator.

CD player will not play burned Cd's anymore after 5 years of work

If it has been playing CD's for over 5 years (really reliable CD player.) then I'd think it's had it's life, it needs to rest now. Meaning it's dead so you either get a replacement or a get a new CD player.

This is what happened to my mum by the way. ;)

Want to play cd on old cd player

If you want an old CD Player to play a disc burnt on a PC, the file format has to me .wav. Most burning software will convert other formats to .wav files.
