Model JVM6175RF1SS. Why don't the lights shut off?

It's probably a stuck relay or you might want to check the door switches. Also try unplugging it for 30 seconds and replugging it.

Light bulb above stove under microwave hood

According to the GE manual it is a 120 v 20 watt halogen bulb, the GE product number is WB36X10213. That is the cooktop light/nightlight that would be on the stove hood. HTH!

The range-top light blew and now replacement bulbs

My Whirlpool/Roper microwave/hood combo has the same problem. I replaced the bulb twice, checked the bulb and it works, but not in the microwave. I wrote to Whirlpool asking about the problem. Haven't heard from them yet.

While changing nightlight bulb, it twisted off and short circuite

Hi,
In all probability, the short took out the relay on the control board and the control board will need to be replaced.

I hope that helps.

Remove cooktop bulb

First of all, be sure to unplug the microwave before removing or installing the bulbs.

Second, the bulbs may be tacked in place with contact cement or hot glue, and sometimes there may have been enough moisture to corrode and seize up.

I would suggest that you use a hair dryer to heat up the area where the bulb and base (socket) meet. But look out for any softening of the socket.

Once you have replaced the bulbs, don;t be surprised if they either don't come on or won't shut off, or if you have such a problem with the hood vent exhaust fan.

We see (and repair) this control board problem a lot.

Cooktop light quit working

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Details of our service and critical safety information and disassembly information is at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
