How do i remove the screen from my lg 47" tv to replace the leds?

Hi Caron!...the heavy plex like sheet goes towards the backlights, with them in backwards will make the picture look strange

It is a common problem for the LG 42/47 LN series LED TV, the problem is defective LED back lights strip (strips).

You have to open the display panel to find the bad one & replace it. The part number usually is printed on the strips, read 6916L-11XXA, you may purchase it from EBay.

The backlight is not working. Either power supply or led's

Faulty the backlight
It is necessary to remove the panel and replace defective LEDs

Wait until it is very dark. All lights out. Switch on. The screen should perceptibly change from black to dark grey. Perhaps you will see some light leakage near the edges where glass meets plinth.

And there is the T test where you touch the screen with the back of your hand after it's been on for a while. Although LED backlights are cold, they do generate some heat. So a perceptible change in temperature usually indicates that the backlight is functional.

are you getting audio?.if so you need to remove the back cover and look at the t-con board.

The problem is in one of the inverter transformers, or one of the backlight behind the display is defective.
