SOURCE: makita dc1804f charger will not charge new i-mh 1834 18v battery

I think your tryiong to charge NIMH batteries oon a charger designed for Lithium Ion batteries. With all the new style batteries such as NICAD, NIMH and LI-ION, charging becomes difficult. Most chargers pre NIMH and LI-ion, were designed for NICAD's. The best advise, match your batteries with the correct charger

SOURCE: Some Ryobi 18v batteries charge, others don't.

Had the same problem with some makita batteries, Was going to throw them away so decided to take apart and see what was happening. The are made up of 1.5 volt cells soldered together, found that many had .9 volts or less and others had 1.5 or more. This means that some of the cells had gone bad (probably due to lack of chemical reaction). Found that if I collected all of the 1.5 volt together could charge just fine. Problem is it is very hard to get them all soldered back together and even harder to enclose them. If a mfg. could come up with some way to change cells individually they could make a lot of money and save us a lot. So the answer to your question is buy you at least one more battery and recycle your old one.

SOURCE: The Yellow and Green light both come on and stay

http://oneworld1.inetu.net/manuals/ryobi/hp1442m_1802m_874_eng.pdf
It sounds like your battery is bad. If yellow and green are on for more than 15 minutes it probably a defective battery pack. See page 8 in the manual.

I have two ryobi 40v batteries. One is brand new and they other is about two years old. The old one got the red green on the charger so I got a new battery. Got the same red green with the new battery....

Completely dead batteries may cause the charger to not see any load and it wont charge them. The way around this is to put the battery on the charger with the charger unplugged. Then plug in the charger and check the lights. Keep unplugging and plugging in the charger till it catches up and stays on.

I have a P115 Ryobi Intelliport charger , will it charge the new lithium 18 V battery?

Ryobi P115 is an 18V battery charger. However, Ryobi Manual did not mention the current rating of P115. if the current rating of Ryobi P115 is 50% higher than your 18V Lithium Battery it will charge. but if it's less than or equal, it will not.

I have a brand new Ryobi kit put battery in the charger the red light goes on and the green light flashers on and off is this charging or should the green light go off until battery is charged.

When the battery is charged the green will be steady on and the red will go off. Flashing green is an indication that it is charging.

hope this helps?

Ryobi lithium batteries won't take charge

For others with the same problem (flashing red light won't go off)...make sure you FIRMLY PUSH the battery down onto the charger and engage the latches. Simply resting the battery on the charger will not work.
