How do I download windows 7 os on to a flash drive so that I can up load it onto my Dell laptop as it has a new drive

if you have the cd for win 7 , go to the bios and change the boot sequence from hard drive to 1st cd
save change
insert the cd
shut down then start again from there
the computer will select the cd unit and load the program from there onto the hard drive
when you have finished downloading all drivers from their relevant manufacturers web pages
close down and on opening get back to bios and change the boot sequence from cd back to hard drive as first option

Why does it take my computer a long time to boot up, loading, and shutting down?

indicates that then hard drive is on the way out
first step is to save everything onto an external hard drive
then take it to a computer repair shop for an inspection
check how much space is on the hard drive because if you have a lot of junk on it , that slows down the start up and shut down p[rocesses
you can go to device manager and do a defrag of the hard drive to free up space

How to restore system

im assuming you have the recovery disk

Restart the computer and press the pause/break key on the keyboard.

This key will slow down the boot process and allow you to see the motherboard BIOS access key that you'll need to press in order to access the motherboard BIOS.

Press the respective motherboard access key and check the motherboard BIOS for a boot sequence.

Change the settings in the boot sequence so the primary boot device or the first boot drive is the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

Insert the system recovery disc into the disc drive.

Restart the computer and allow it to boot up before doing anything.

A black screen should show up with the words Press any key to boot from disc CD/DVD.
Press a key to have the system boot from the recovery disc.

Allow the system to load.

Follow the on-screen instructions on how to install the rest of the operating system.

There are many different settings for you to choose.
If the operating system is just a little out of whack, you can choose to repair it.

The system recovery disc will contain important drivers and software for all the components connected to the computer system.

If you do not have a system restore disc you can search the Internet for drivers and software that are packaged for your specific eMachines model.

Restore the BIOS to their default settings so the hard drive is primary boot sequence.

This is an optional step.

You can leave the CD-ROM drive as the primary boot drive, but it will slow down the startup process by a few seconds.

hope this helps

Vpceb46fg slow startup....how do i speed it up ???

Hi,

If you're having a slow start up problem, it means too many programs are loaded whiles booting into windows to get rid of the problem

go to Start->Run->CMD->MSCONFIG-> Startuo (tab)

found the unnecessary entries which were not needed every time when the system boots

for example if winzip is set to load at start up on every boot then disable it by un ticking as it is not necessary to load at start up because we will use it very rarely and we can found it whenever we need by going to start -> Programs buttons

like the above example i can give some examples to uncheck
utorrent
winzip
Internet Download Managers (if you don't need continuous downloads)
norton ghost
real player updater
google updater
and some other updaters which will eat our RAM frequently.

Thank you

Not sure if the rtc error is the cause of my problem. Laptop will not boot up after it has been shut down for a few hours. It will turn on and get past the acer screen then simply sits there and does...

You are right on your first assumption...the RTC battery is dead and keeps resetting the cmos control settings. The operating system however is updated to the present and that is where things don't want to play nice together. Change the battery, boot the laptop in safe mode with networking, adjust the date and time. When the laptop loads and is stable, then try to reboot normally into windows.

Below is the link to the service manual for that laptop, you can either click on or copy and paste into the browser address bar. It is free to use, copy and print.

I have a computer with a ECS p4m800-m7 ver 1 motherboard that is runninng real slow, I have plenty of room on the drive, and maxed memory to 2 gigs I have run disk cleanup, defrag, scandisk, reg clean,...

No. It should not be slow. You may have a virus on your hard drive, or you have too many running programs in the background. If you look down at your by your clock count how many you have. If you have at least 4 going try shutting non important ones down.

Do a search for ccleaner, you temp folders could be getting full and you need to clean and ccleaner will do that.

Very slow laptop

could be a Ram problem or perhaps a virus . Try booting off a cd or floppy that you can create from http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

But you'll need access to another computer for that

Your registry is needs fixing.
PC's today get cluttered with more damaging data, junk, and extra files than ever. This results in poor PC performance, frequent system crashes, slow Internet connections and worse. Fortunately there are some great software downloads that you can use to fix things.
You can do two things.
1. download a registry fixer, which would be difficult for you to do since your system cannot restart.
OR
2. Reinstall your operating system. restart your computer and while it is restarting hold down the delete button. It will bring up your bios. there you can then go into your c-mos setup and change your boot settings to BOOT FROM CD FIRST. THEN HARD DRIVE..
When you finish that, press F10 to exit and save settings.
Ten insert your windows disk and restart system. Reformat the entire drive. (NOTE: YOU WILL LOSE YOUR INFO). OR you can tell it to repair .
My advise to you is when it is finish repairin. backup all your important files and follow step 2 but this time you would want to reformat the Hard Drive. (that is to wipe it clean and reinstall windows fresh.

Please let me know if this help.
