It should store at least twice that number of songs in mp3 format, and up to 2000 in the AAC format. The best guess at this range is that there are other files taking up storage, the most likely being a few videos.

Use iTunes to check the storage usage, as described here

8 gigs isn't enough if you want more songs you should opt for 16 gigs or higher. each songs has different capacities. therefore it'll fill up your gigs.

How do i transfer files from itunes to ipod shuffle

First, and most obviuos, plug in your iPod. iTunes should automatically pop up and recognize your iPod shuffle. How many gigs can it hold? When you plug in your iPod to your authorized account, you shuold automatically see iTunes transferring songs into your iPod.
If not, manually transfer songs into your iPod. Select your iPod on the left hand panel of iTunes, where you can look into your iPod. Next, look at the menu that pops up when you click your iPod (it shold show you your iPod, how mny gigs it can hold, etc.). Click 'Manually transfer songs'. From there, you can choose which songs to download into your iPod from iTunes (whichever songs are checked in the little boxes on the left of your songs in your iTunes).

Good luck!

I have an 8 gig ipod that holds a little over 1,000 songs but I can barely get a litle over 500 songs on my zen. Why can't I get more songs on to my zen? Most of the files I have on the zen are in mp3...

it all depends on how big the mp3 files are and the quality of the file i know that i can fit about 900 songs on 2 gigs but the quality is severly degraded you can try and use windows media player and under the sync options you can set the bitrate that the mp3 files will be 64kbps is the lowest and least amount of space and quality then you can go higher and better quality but more space is taken i try and leave mine at around 128 or 256 minimum but if quality isnt an issue then go low and cram it full

Wont transfer over??

The problem might be that the USB cable is interupten in the middle. You can buy a new one. The problem could be as simple as that.

8 gig ipod songs are cleared, but they are still taking up space

Sometimes you need to restore the iPod even though you've already deleted the content. Below I have posted a step by step for restoring your iPod touch in iTunes. If you are still unable to sync the iPod after restoring please do let me know :)

Last Modified: February 16, 2009 Article: HT1414 Old Article: 305744 Using the Restore function for your iPod touch is part of standard troubleshooting procedure. Restoring your device will erase all data from your iPod touch, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod touch settings are restored to their factory condition.
Whenever you restore your iPod touch, Apple highly recommends that you perform a sync prior to restoring in order to back up any changes since your last sync. If you have movie rentals on the device, see this document before restoring.
Use the following steps to restore your iPod touch:
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and running before attempting to update. Connect your iPod touch to your computer. Select your iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices. Select the Summary tab. Select the Restore option. When prompted to back up your iPod touch's settings before restoring, select the Back Up option. If have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.
Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (As long as you've backed up your device, you should not have to worry about restoring your iPod touch).
Once the restore process has completed the iPod touch restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up

Connecting Ipod touch 8(GB) to Wi-fi

netgear support software could be bad. The ipod might not be able to read signal. umm try restoring the ipod. then plug it to your computer let it recognize it and then before you add ANYTHING to it, go straight to the setting and put in the router number and everythign and see if it works. I know people hate it but restoring it usually works. Its just simple small virus's that hit your ipod through songs and stuff and it eventually makes everything stop working. So get back at me let me know if restoring it worked.

Gateway 831GM Video card

The 831 only supports 2 gigs of ram any more and it wont start. You can probably fit a 9800 in it but would be a very tight fit.
