If you are referring to upgrading those processors, then you need to also upgrade the motherboard to accommodate the newer CPU. And often the memory will be different also.

Pentium II is very very very old.

A good motherboard with an AGP 8X slot, if you can find one. The board should be ATX rather than micro atx, the full size boards are usually better running. It should take 4gb of ddr, hopefully pc3200.
Add a Northwood CPU, a fast one. A good socket 478 cooler.
DDR3200, this is fairly cheap on Ebay new. A good AGP card, maybe a geforce 3 or 4. A large IDE hard disk. ribbon cables. Maybe a floppy drive. DVD RW DRIVE. P4 PSU....350 WATSS AT LEAST.


LATER P4 478 CHIPS HAD 1MB CACHE RATHER THAN THE NORTHWOOD'S 512K CACHE BUT THEY RAN HOT AND NEEDED VERY GOOD COOLING GENERALLY, THEY ARE BEST AVOIDED IN MY OPINION.

Each is a different CPU socket set. Meaning a different motherboard, meaning a different computer for each.

This is older type of motherboard, made by Asus and supporting Intel Pentium 4, 775pin processor (LGA775). It will support DDR2 to the value of 4GB, it will support 64bit operating system. it have single PATA port, SATA is present but no RAID configuration.

This motherboard requires PCI video card, there is noAGP port and no build in graphics. System is based on Intel G31 Express chipset.

Theoreticaly this motherboard should accept all Intel Pentium for 775 pin processors, albeit early production may need BIOS flush with latest BIOS.

List of processors accepted:

Intel Pentium 4, Intel Pentium D, Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo, Intel Pentium Core 2 Extreme and Intel Pentium Core 2 Quad.

There are 256Mb, 512Mb, 1gb, 2gb, etc.. the more the better and this motherboard supports upto 2 gb, but some newer make of this motherboard miht have been changed.
