when the unit is totally drain (main battery and back-up batter is totally drain),
you need to charge the device at least 20hrs to fully charge the main and back-up battery
check manual of mc1000 re battery charging @ page 21-22
I recommend that you use the laptop without charging it to fully drain the battery. Then you are guaranteed a 100% charge when you come to charge the battery.
You can let the battery run down until you get a warning message saying battery low plug in mains power.
Your battery may be losing it's ability to hold the charge or your charger may be fully replacing the charge in the battery. Personally, I suspect the battery.
The problem was partially solved in that I put my old battery back in and at least it charged properly. I did receive a new battery from BatteryMill and I fitted it and left it charging for 5 hours. However, when I unplugged it to see if it had charged at all it did the low battery thing and then when I tried to recharge it the battery fully charged symbol ame up. I suspect that had I left the new battery charging for say 24 hours it might have charged fully. However, I have decided to send my batteries back and get a refund. The problem must be something to do with a battery memory problem.
Hi, you can get a battery on ebay, there is another solution if you know someone with the same player. The player will not charge or start up if the battery gets too low. Borrow a friends player HDD 065 / 075. Remove their fully charged battery (make sure their player is off) and place it in your player. Switch on the player (should work now) and plug in the mains charger. Without turning the player off or unplugging the mains charger remove your friends battery and replace yours. Leave the player to charge the battery until full. This should solve your problem provided your battery is flat and not damaged. Do not place the flat battery in your friends player as this can cause problems if they have upgraded firmware.
You might hook your charger up to your battery and check the voltage that you are getting when it is fully charged. It may be that the charger is bad.
Your voltage when fully charged with the battery on it should be a little over the rated voltage of the battery.
Just a thought. Be sure you are using the correct poweradapter/charger also.
