My printer 1220c power button when turned on, it refuses to turn off and it displays usb not regnoised

Try to reset the factory settings: Go to Settings tab and press the Resets option. This will change all the settings to default factory settings. A. Entering into service mode

• Turn off the printer off is the printer power on. And remove the printer USB cable from your computer..
• While the printer is OFF, press and hold the Start/Stop button on the some other canon printers model press Resume/Cancel button.
• While still holding Start/Stop button or Resume/Cancel button, press and hold the POWER button.
• When the POWER LED (green light) lit, release the Start/Stop or resume/cancel button (still holding the POWER button).
• Still holding the power button, Press the Start/Stop button or resume/cancel button TWICE then Release the POWER button. Wait until LCD printer to display 0 (zero) number
• After the display is 0, attach the printer UDB cable to your computer, its will detected new device installed (its normal), now go to resetting steps

B. Resetting Ink counter on the Printer

Run "service_tool 1050.exe". you can download the service tool software from this link:

• Confirm detected USB-port numbers on USB port column.
• Click "Main button" on Clear ink counter section. Make sure there are papers in the paper feed because the printer will print after the process is complete.
• Click "platen button" on the "Clear ink counter" section. The printer will print again.
• Turn off the printer and then turn the printer on. You printer is ready for use.

How to fix the printing problem when Canon PIXMA MX320 series detected the errors in your cartridge?

After refilling the cartridge, the next thing to do is to reset the cartridge. This will clear your printer from displaying common printer errors like U041, U042, U053, U051 and U052. For error U162 or U163 All functions of the all-in-one printer will stop and your printer will not work.
1. Turn off your printer an turn it on again
2. After the printer initialize try to copy or print. The error will appear.
3. When the error is displayed on the display panel of the printer, Press and Hold the STOP/RESET button and wait until it self restart.
4. Release the STOP/RESET button the the printer is restarting.
5. Wait for a few seconds and the pending print jobs will commence.

Reset the product:

1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.
2. Remove the cartridges from the product.
3. Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
5. Wait 60 seconds.
6. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button ( ).
7. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
9. Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.

Got the same problem following a message "Printer ink failure" code 0xc19a0035. Instructions say to shut down using button on/off. But printer refused to shutdown. After 30 minutes, I disconnected power cable. Removed cartridges. Reloaded cartridges. Reconnected power cable and got "Improper shutdown" message with continuous cycle. Solution: 1. While the printer is still turned on, unplug all cables and cords at the back of the printer.
2. Unplug the power cord also from the wall outlet...
3. Wait for two minutes.
4. Reconnect power cord to the wall outlet first.
5. Press and hold the pound (#) and six (6) buttons.
6. While holding down the two buttons, reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer and after two seconds, release pound and six buttons.
7. Turn on the printer if it turns off... and it's fixed.

This is a problem with the carriage. Unplug the printer from the wall and the computer wait half an hour and then plug it back in and see if you have the same problem please post the results.

Had the same problem, some where there is a fix on the web, changing out a 1/2 watt resistor fixes it!
