My samsung un60hu8550 has sound but no picture. Just happened this afternoon. Sounds like a t con problem based on searches. Am I right, and how hard is it to replace?

It could be the t con board, the power supply board, the backlighting, or the display itself.

Don't open it up unless you know what you're doing. There are hazardous voltages even with the TV unplugged!

Testimonial: "Thanks. It turns on. There is backlighting. Hoping its the t con."

Actually, the majority of failures I've seen are the power supply board. There are multiple power supplies on 1 board and if the one that fails happens to be the one that powers the t con board then you will see the same failure.
It's the power supply board that has the hazardous voltages. The rest are safe to handle.

Bad picture on my old Samsung TV - is it the t-con board?

@sam8823 “Now is it possible to damage T con board this way “ absolutely possible. Unlikely that you damaged the panel (sure always possible, but unlikely). “This “Also there were two conductive tapes between Lcd panels (one on left and one on right panel) and TV body. “ sounds odd. Post some good images of your Panel and the cables that enter the panel. Adding images to an existing question that way we can see what you see. You need to have more TABS on a 55” TV than 2. Also, let us know what the exact model is.

Samsung un60eh6050fxza tv has sound, light in background, cannot see any menu picture when menu is selected, no picture. what board do I need or is it some thing else?

Hi John,
The board that might need replacing is the T-con board but before replacing it, I would suggest to measure the voltage at F301 on the T-con board.
Replacement parts can be found by checking the link provided below:

I have a problem with Samsung LN40B530P7NXZA. Powers on nice but 10-15 min later image starts turning white until it turns all white. You can still listen but no image. Help!

This sounds like a defective T-Con board. There is a company that is testing the T-Con board and eventually fix it. They also may offer you a replacement T-Con board if yours can't be fixed. It is a good idea to contact them directly. Samsung hc-r5245w no power

Hello Chac c,

The reason that you are getting a 'red light' is because your lamp is burned out. There is a panel on the back of the TV that gives you access to this lamp. You can remove it and check the part# to be sure then replace it. I did a quick search for you just based on the model# which you provided. You can see it here - http://www.nextag.com/serv/main/buyer/OutPDir.jsp?search=samsung+lamp&gg_site=&gg_aid=1295966762

Hope this helps :)
