How to fix Miele W1918 washer drain pump always running unless machine is turned off or unplugged

Does the pump run before any water enters the washer? If so, then you have a problem with the control board or a problem with the pump control.

The more common issue is a siphon. This starts when the water going into the machine gets higher than the end of the discharge hose in your stand pipe or laundry sink. Fixing a siphon is easy - lift the end of the drain hose so that it is higher than the highest water level of the washer. You may need to lengthen the stand pipe. (The maximum height of the stand pipe can be15'; that's maximum height that the pump can push the water.) If you are using a floor drain, then the anti-siphon/air gap system is damaged.

I hope this helps. There are parts available for the Miele W1918 online. You need to enter the serial number of the washer to get the right pump or control board.

Domestic hot water loop not cycling work for years then I fixed some leaks now l can't get it to themoyphen

Electric water heaters need the power turned off when servicing the hot water system or risk burning out the heating elements. Water heater tank water level must be filled before restoring power to the heating elements.
The closed circuit water pump also needs the power turned off while servicing the loop or risk pump seal damage.
Loop pump needs water to work, air pockets trapped in the pump will avoid water circulation.

My nec nwtl456 washing machine wont empty all water when spin complete anoying is it the pump or?

Is this a new fault or has it always done this? What's the water stream like while pumping out, but before the spin cycle? Noticed any changes? Can you tell if the pump is still working during the spin cycle (hard to tell by listening but try). It should still be pumping during the spin cycle. Sadly for you, reviews of this model are not too complimentary, and help requests cover a variety of faults. Looks like it may be a bit of a lemon.

If the pump is still running during spin, a possible (likely?) fault cause is a damaged impeller, which would make it pump adequately during the main drain cycle, but lose pumping ability rapidly as soon as there was not much more water to pump, and the backflow leakage rate equalled the rate of water collection at the pump inlet. As well, in that scenario, any water still in the drain line would flow back into the drum as soon as the cycle finished.

Motor is wire to be on full cylce rather than circulate.

The wiring is not what makes a pump full cycle or circulate. If the spa motor is always on it is either because the pump relay is stuck closed, or the heater isnt keeping temerature therefor requiring the pump to be constantly running. There are also setting on newer style computer boards which determine a pump to be either "jet" or "circulation" pumps.

Also, a spa pump will run fulltime if the water is below 50 degrees F.

No pressure to drive swing arm.

Check first that no debris is blocking the holes in the spray arm where the water comes out, and clean out the holes. In case it will not solve your problem, it's look like a pump problem (the pump has two functions : drive water to the spray arms and to drain water out the washer). Open the rear panel and listen if the pump works during the wash cycle. In case it doesn't work, it should be replaced. Good luck !
