SOURCE: downloading video from cam corder

I would try the following:

1) check for an update to the image mixer software here

2) see if jvc customer support can/will help

3) uninstall the image mixer software and try using windows movie maker instead

SOURCE: record directly from jvc model GR-- D370U Digital Video Camera to my pc

Sorry, but it's not possible to record directly to a PC. Windows movie maker will only record from a tape. Please use a quality cable like Belkin, I have had issues with the cheaper firewire cords.
Good luck

Sony has a recall on some of these ccd imager problems. Contact Sony to see if your model applies, but it sounds like an imager problem on your pal format camcorder. Larry

Cant delete files off cam corder jvc mg145aa model

There are two options to delete pictures from your camera:

1. You can delete the picture with the camera itself:
  • On the back of your camera, move the switch down from the red camera symbol to the green arrow symbol.
  • On the top of your camera, press the POWER button.
  • Using the left and right arrow keys on the back of your camera, move through your photos to select the first photo you want to delete.
  • On the back of your camera, press MENU/OK.
  • Using the arrow key pointing up, select FRAME and then press MENU/OK.
  • You will now see, on your screen, the words ERASE OK? Press MENU/OK.
  • The camera will automatically ask you if you want to erase the next photo. If you do, press MENU/OK, but if you don't, press the BACK button.
2. The best option is to connect your digital camera to the computer via a USB cable. Once your camera is being detected open the photo folder and select all the pictures and hit the Delete key on the keyboard.

Grey Bars appear on video playback

The monitor you view while recording does not read from the tape where the problem is located, that's why you are not seeing them during recording.
Since they are not visible while recording, the video section is healthy, only the recording is faulty and it is unlikely you can do anything at home to correct it.
This may be a common problem and perhaps Canon is familiar with it.
I recommend you call their service line directly:

Card not initialized

Kyle850. I have a fujifilm finepix camera myself, and just recently had the same problem. The camera worked fine until one day I turned it on to take a picture and there was the "card not initialized" message. To fix the problem, just turn on your camera, push the menu button and use the right/left arrow buttons near the zoom button in the top left corner of the camera. Push the right arrow button until you come to the "option" window in the camera's view finder and use the "up" function of the zoom to highlight the "set-up" window. Press "ok", and use the right arrow button scoll over to the "2" tab and press the ok button again. Then use the "up/down" function of the zoom button to scroll down to the "format" tab. Press ok button again and use the "left" button near the zoom in and out button to highlight the "ok" option in the format window. By pressing the ok button here, it will reformat and reinitialize your picture card. If you do have pics already on your pic card, you may want to take your pic card to a photo center and see about recovering these pics before you go through the reformat process because there is a good chance that when you reformat your pic disk any pics on it will be gone. Good luck. SG

Flash detail

Use the right arrow button on the arrow pad. There is a little pic of a lighting bold beside a pic of a camera on the top left hand corner. Push the right arrow button and look at that lightning bolt you will see it changing. There are three different ones. One has a ling through it and that means no flash on had an "A" on it that stands for automatic and then you will see just a pic of the bolt without anything. Not to sure what means either. Hope this helps.
