My Aqualisa Quartz shower stopped working suddenly. Pump is on, but no water

The Shower is 6 years old. In the last few months there has been a delay in the water coming out after shower switched on of about 5-10 seconds. Suddenly yesterday it stopped working. Pump is on, but no water comes out. then after a little while pump switches off - I assume some sort of cutoff switch. I have tried putting the head on the floor, doing the full cold water, full hot water routine to clear air block. Even removed the hosepipe. Have switched it on and off a number of times.

SOURCE: cold water suply filling up header tank in loft thru hot water suply on shower.

hi did you run a seperate cold water supply from the storage tank to the shower pump & also a seperate hot supply from the hot water cylinder, it sounds as though the cold water is crossing into the hot service & pushing its way up to the tank as its the only way it can go, sounds as though the cold water connection to the shower is not tank fed & possibly directly off the water main.?

SOURCE: only hot water, no cold water.

The cartridges in the single handle units are prone to display this issue in hard water areas as mineral deposits such as calcium build up on the stem. The stems also have small rubber band like rings - for lack of a better term- that break apart and can clog the ports on the side where the are on. New stem should resolve the issue totally unless you have had a pipe break or other construction to the plumbing system recently. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

SOURCE: shower temperature too hot

Shower valves that have anti-scald features are renowned for this problem. Usually it is caused by not being used regularly. It can be repaired usually without replacing the valve, but you will have to dissemble it, clean, and use some plumbers grease to reassemble it. It should work fine after this. If it still does not work you will need to replace the cartridge.

SOURCE: Kohler shower valve (hot/cold switched)

Just had this same thing, on this exact faucet. If you still have the manual, it has instructions on how to rotate the valve for back to back installations where one shower has the hot/cold reversed. Our contractor got ours in backwards the first time and I had to call and have them come out and rotate the valve this morning.

AquaLisa Quartz Shower Issue ! Always hot

An issue could cause the problem you're experiencing with your Aqualisa Quartz shower with the shower's thermostatic control valve. This valve regulates the water temperature and maintains a consistent temperature.
One common cause for a shower to become too hot is a malfunctioning thermostatic control valve. The valve may be stuck open, allowing hot water to flow through the shower even when the temperature is set to the lowest setting.
Another possible cause could be an issue with the shower's mixing valve, which is responsible for mixing the hot and cold water to achieve the desired temperature. If the mixing valve malfunctions, it could cause the shower to become too hot.
I recommend checking the thermostatic control valve and the mixing valve for any signs of damage or wear. If either of them is damaged, they will need to be replaced.
If the shower is still too hot even though you have set the temperature to the lowest, it might indicate that the thermostatic valve is not working correctly and needs to be replaced or repaired.
It's best to call a professional plumber or a service technician to check the shower and diagnose the problem; they will be able to find and fix the issue, ensuring that your shower will be safe and functional again.

6 yr old Aqualisa shower working perfectly well. But turned itself on last night. No light showing on dial/on switch. Wouldn't turn "off" for me. Ran for 15mins and then switched off!

Good Aternoon lrmulholland,

Do you know what model Aqualisa shower you have or are you able to take a photo of it for us? That would be very useful.

Kind Regards,

Hello, my aqualisa shower is working intermittently, water starts and then goes down to a dribble, but not all the time. It is an aqualisa quartz.

If you are not getting any water through your shower it is possible that there is a restriction.

Please note that the air lock test is only neccessary if you're shower is the Pumped Digital Quartz or Quartz Thermo Mixer Shower and that you are on a Gravity Fed Water System (cold tank in loft).

The hose will appear fine from the outside, but the hose has an internal rubber liner which can become blocked/twisted.
To remedy this, unscrew the shower head from the hose anti-clockwise.Place the open end of the hose to it's lowest point (bath or tray).
Turn the water on.The water SHOULD come out in a straight line,if however the water comes out in a V-Shape the liner is twisted and the hose will need replacing.

Air Lock
If there is air in your pipework this will cause low flow and pulsing. To remedy this fault do the same above but run the water on FULL COLD for two minutes and then FULL HOT for three minutes.
If the water pulsates it is the air escaping. If it does this leave it until it corrects itself.

Hope that this info helps you,if it doesn't it sounds like you have a mechanical fault with the processor box.

Get a knocking noise from an Aqualisa Quartz 2

It may be a water hammering effect from pressure in your pipes. You may need to install a water hammer to stop this. you can put in line that will stop this.
