Shark 384 - how can i get a straight stitch?

What setting is suppose to be used to make a straight stitch on the machine? I can only get a zig zag stitch, even when the stitch selection is on "S".

With the Shark Euro-Pro X machine, you need to bring the stitch width to zero it's the nob on top of the machine the manual states not to use it wider then 3 with the double needle cause it can break the needle. but either stitch selection "A" or "S" will give straight stitching with width at zero.

Set it zigzag mode and set the stitch width dial (lower dial on right side) to zero. That should give you straight stitches.

Is there a reset button for the Shark Intelli Sew sewing machine? When I turn it on the needle just runs left to right repeatedly.

The machine is in zig zag stitch setting. Change stitch setting to a straight stitch.

I just worked with my Shark sewing machine and it was fine suddenly it stopped zig zag and start working simple stitches! Can you let me know why it happened? There was no noise or sound of breaking.

There is a spring that got loose from the needle arm that keeps pressure on the arm. It needs to be reattached. Anyway, make sure all of the normal adjustments are set properly. Just one adjustment wrong will cause the machine to only run in a straight stitch. Possibly a button hole or something else. Remove the top of the machine and look down where the needle arm is. The needle arm bracket has got to pull the arm towards the arm using the pressure of an attached spring. This spring is hanging inside the machine from a permanent side bracket. If it isn't there then it has dropped to the bottom of the machine. Anyway, the needle arm must have the sideward pull in order for the machine to produce a zigzag stitch.

Why won't my zig-zag zig zag?

Check your stitch width setting if its too low it will just straight stitch.

Trouble sewing lycra fabric using a zig zag stitch

You have the machine set for blind hem stitching. Change the stitch selector to stretch stitch, which is a single, in line stitching zig zag stitch.

I can not figure out how to set a straight stitch. I don't want a zig zag or a decorative stitch. How do i set my machine to do this?

First, make sure you select the straight stitch setting on the round dial. It is the one that has the dashed lines, looking like the stitch itself. Then, you may also want to be sure that the stitch WIDTH (dial with the picture that looks like a straight line gradually turning into a zig-zag) to the lowest setting, which is generally 0. With some machines, even after selecting a straight stitch setting, moving the stitch width can change needle position. Sometimes it will initiate the zig zag, other times it will move needle position left to right. Does that fix it?

My sewing machine will not change from straight stitching to the zig zag pattern options

Your gears are not aligning correctly inside the chassis. I would suggest taking your machine to a certified repairman, because if you touch the wrong gear or tighten it in the wrong position, it may do a zigzag, but then your other designs will not work properly. Simple fix for the right repairman. If you open the chassis, make sure it is UNPLUGGED.

Only does zig zag stitches, no straight stitches,

make sure the pattern selector is set for straight stitch first. If it is set correct then the machine may be "stuck" is zig zag mode. May need to be de greased and then re lubricated.
