I just got a new Gaggia Synchrony Logic RS from amazon and it only leaks water when we turn it on?
We just got the machine and even when we put in the water and coffee beans, only water leaks out from the back. We have another one and it works just fine. How can we fix it?

Brand new --out of the box-- still covered by warranty --don't fix --contact your supplier and ask for a return of defective item and a refund or a new unit as replacement

The manual is next to useless. I would find the closest Gaggia Service Centre and ask them to diagnose and fix. It says it needs descaling every 2 weeks, but you have a blockage in a water valve somewhere.
With these removable units, you must be very careful, the circular mechanism that does the running of the Y motion need to be properly alligned. You need to perhaps put the back of a knife in it and adjust until all the parts align, Then it must click in easily. If you have forced it in the clip will not release. you need to rattle it a little.
HI
There is a panel behind the brew unit, that has 2 screws. Remove it and clean the coffee residue behind it. That is what drains the pressure relieved after brewing, and has coffee residue that can build up and cause the leak. It should leak into the drip tray though, except when you rremove it.
If it leaks from the steam wand then you need to get a new steam valve assembly. For the heat you will have to open the machine it is possible that the steam boiler is damaged or that the thermostat on there is bad, use an ohmsmeter to check thermostats and element. There are 2 screws in the grinder, 2 behind the water tank and about 2 or 3 in the front behind the door.
I think you have get air in the system, try to find a bellows pump or similary. Fill it with water, open the steam knob and take of the water tank, put the pump in the water inlet and press. When the water begins to flow, close the steam knob and put the water tank back.
