I have one mailbox extension on my Nortel system that will not let me log in.
I tried the reset password from the phone, . The reset to a 0000, but when used it says Mailbox locked, contact admin, exit. the system even said there was no ext 221. at least now it sees 221.
That set may have the general delivery mailbox attached to it. The mail box number for the general delivery mailbox is 100. you might try and resetting that mailbox to see if it gives you access.

You would need to log in as the voicemail admin using "Feature 983" followed by 102 (if you have 3 digit extension numbers) then the voicemail admin password. From there you can select MBOX and reset the password to 0000 for the mailbox in question.
To reset the password on the mail box you need to go to a M7310 phone on your system. It has 3 buttons under the display. You need to press the "Feature" button and 983, then enter the password 120000 (this one is used if you have 2 digit extensions 1020000 is used if you have 3 digit extensions) . Next in the display you will see mbox-AA-othr above the soft keys. Press the button below mbox. Next enter your extension number. After that you should see the screen to reset your password. This will reset the password to 0000. When you go back to your own extension and log in to your mailbox it will prompt you to change your password. If you password120000 or 1020000 doesn't work try 121111 or 1021111, the last 4 digits are the password for the admin mailbox.
You're resetting the wrong password. Keep in mind that mailbox numbers and extension numbers are not always the same. When you're resetting the password, make sure that the EXT assigned to it is the right one !! If you're resetting the reception mailbox, it's usually mailbox 100 (regardless of what the extension number is)

How do I reset a password on a Norstar Voice Mail mailbox?
Press Feature 983.
Enter the System Coordinator's Mailbox number (default is 12, 102, 1002,
depending on length of extension numbers) followed by Password (default 0000).
Press MBOX.
Press CHNG.
Enter the mailbox number that is giving you troubles.
Press RESET. The password has been reset to default (0000). Good Luck.
Press Feature * 0 and then press you intercom button - This will identify the extension # of the phone you are using/ This will also identify any button on the phone
assumming your extension is 3 digits;
enter Feature 983 and at the log prompt enter 1020000 then press ok. This is 102 for the mb and 0000 for the password. If you get successfully logged in you can choose mbox then change and then enter your mb # . The first thing you will see is PASSWORD with RESET under password. Press the softkey under reset to rest the password to 0000. Now try to log back into your mb using 0000 as the password.
If you can't get into the admin mb with 1020000 then do this to reset the password for the admin mb..

The following instructions will only work if your System Administrator password is set to the default. Usually the default is 0000. To Log Into System Administration: 1. Enter Feature 983 2. The display will show "LOG", enter your login password a. If your company extensions are 2 digits long enter "120000" b. If your company extensions are 3 digits long enter "1020000" c. If your company extensions are 4 digits long enter "10020000" 3. Press the softkey under "OK"
To Reset a Mailbox Password: 1. Log into system administration 2. Select the softkey under "MBOX" 3. Select the softkey under "Chng" 4. Enter the mailbox number you want to reset the password for 5. The display shows "Reset Password" 6. Select the softkey under "RESET" 7. Press the release key *The new password will be "0000", the system will ask the user to change this the first time they log into their mailbox using this password.
