Ice maker compressor

Check the vibration isolation mounts which is a rubber in the footing of the compressor. Your compressor might need to be repositioned a bit. Did you move recently?

It can be compressor fan noise,may be motor getting overheated and causing noise.It has to be inspected.

Before going to buy any parts directly.

it has to be the compressor and has come loose on its rubber mounts and as the motor stops the internals of the compressor strike the side of the compressor body and produce this noise,tighten the rubber mounts on that compressor and it should be fine

the noise is came from your compressor due to long uses or operation the mechanical inside possible for wear and tear you need to replace compressor before you replaced try to observe its operation.

No-one posted a solution. I contacted the original solution poster who was very helpful.I hope this helps someone else better understand their refrigerator problem and get on the right track. Staffgage.

"think that you are hearing either a freon related sound or even just the sounds of the unit going thru defrost.
how often do you hear the noise? just maybe once a day or is it everytime the unit shuts off?
either way i would rule out the ice maker and water system as when the "shut off arm" is up then it is off and wont make any noise, or ice.
keep the i/m arm up and then listen for the next day or two and try to narrow down when it makes the noise and frequency you hear it and then get back to me.

It does sound as if you may need a new ice maker. Other than that does the compressor come on to keep the ice cold? If so is it making any type of noises beyond the typical hum?

Compressor is the sound you hear and it sound as if it is about to bite the big one. The sound is the piston hitting the top of the housing. Hope this helps Good luck on your repairs

Clunking noises usually comes from the rapid stop of the compressor. It will not hurt a thing. The rubber grommets which the compressor sit on for cushioning, have most likely hardened and are transferring the noise to the frame or casing. The compressor runs at 3600 rpm's and when you tell it to stop on a dime, it can't. The result is a couple of clunks or so. Also check the drip pan for improper positioning. I have seen them make noise also.

Keeps on beeping? Every 3 to 4 seconds? Try putting the thermostat wires together. An open bin thermostat will cause this problem and the board see it and starts beeping.
