It'll very likely be either the touchpad or the main machine control board (motherboard ). Take off the console (3 screws on the back side of the console ) and remove the back side of the touchpad cover. It's white and is held on by 3 phillips screws . Look for visual damages to the touchpad (the circuit board you just took the cover off of). If you see any, definitely the touchpad. If you see NO burnt spots or corrosion on the touchpad, then you should replace the motherboard.

F1 means the control board is shot. Call whirlpool and they should take care of the parts and labor even though your machine is out of warranty.
SOURCE: whirlpool cabrio washer spin sounds like a jet now
i am afraid that the noise is ur bearings, give the drum a turn by hand with no washing in it and you will hear and feel a rumble. Dependant on type of washer you can replace the bearing, but sometimes the cost i am afraid is rather high and may be worth purchasing a new appliance.
I hope this helps
SOURCE: 5 month old Whirlpool Cabrio washer has moldy
Smelly washers are common. Cabrio washers are HE and therefore use less water. By using less water, it doesn't rinse ITSELF as good as an older non-efficient machine. Things you can do to solve the problem. Buy a cleaner from Whirlpool called Affresh. It's 3 tablets that you throw in the washer without clothes and run it on the longest heavy duty cycle possible. Use the hot water setting and the longest duration. For existing smells use all 3 tablets. Then use 1 tablet every month to prevent reoccurring odors. You can also try the same type of cycle on hot water with a half of a gallon of bleach in the tub, or try it with a half of a gallon of vinegar. One of the 3 should do the trick.

Check the four suspension rods on the outer tub to make sure they are not broken and/or out of placement.
