Step 1: Get Access to the Door Spring
Remove the lower panel under the door. Normally, two screws keep the panel in place. These screws are located on top of or below the panel. There are cases wherein you have to initially open the dishwasher door to be able to remove the screws. The door should then be closed in order to remove the panel.
Step 2: Remove Springs
To remove the springs, the hook of the spring should be lifted from the anchor point. Use your fingers to do so. If there is a large amount of tension, it's best to use a screwdriver or pliars. Position the shaft under the hook and then pull it down. After pulling down, try lifting the anchor. To make things easier, try locating a leverage point. This should help the screwdriver force the spring out. Be certain to remove the spring from all of its anchor points.
Step 3: Installation of New Springs
To install a new spring, you initially have to deal with the positioning of the lower spring hook. It should be placed within the first hole. Take note of the adjustment bracket when doing this. Follow the previous set up. If the spring needs more tension, try positioning the spring hook further towards the back of the adjustment bracket. The end of the spring for the counter balance of the door should be mounted on the door support. Find the slot on the support. Replace all covers and door panels. Test the door to check for any problems.
