Step 1: Get Access to the Door Spring Remove the lower panel under the door. Normally, two screws keep the panel in place. These screws are located on top of or below the panel. There are cases wherein you have to initially open the dishwasher door to be able to remove the screws. The door should then be closed in order to remove the panel.
Step 2: Remove Springs To remove the springs, the hook of the spring should be lifted from the anchor point. Use your fingers to do so. If there is a large amount of tension, it's best to use a screwdriver or pliars. Position the shaft under the hook and then pull it down. After pulling down, try lifting the anchor. To make things easier, try locating a leverage point. This should help the screwdriver force the spring out. Be certain to remove the spring from all of its anchor points.
Step 3: Installation of New Springs To install a new spring, you initially have to deal with the positioning of the lower spring hook. It should be placed within the first hole. Take note of the adjustment bracket when doing this. Follow the previous set up. If the spring needs more tension, try positioning the spring hook further towards the back of the adjustment bracket. The end of the spring for the counter balance of the door should be mounted on the door support. Find the slot on the support. Replace all covers and door panels. Test the door to check for any problems.

Door on my miele built in dishwasher is broken

First thing you need to do is SEARCH for "spares"
for your Miele G685sc

We don't seem to have "parts" for your G685sc here
in the USA...

but a casual look over BOSCH hinge and spring costs
show the hinge at $20 USD

AND

SPRING at $10 to $19 US Dollars...
Lower door gasket $20 to $30 USD

AT those prices I would attempt to avoid a "new"
dishwasher... When you are done trying to get a HEATER,
silence and stainless interior...
You are looking at BIG MONEY.

Check the FIT of the door... and health of the gasket(s)....

I'm just saying... I would
(it is the ULTIMATE in recycling).

I've just installed a Miele 5500SCU Dishwasher and the springs that support the door cant be adjusted far enough to take the weight of the door, does anyone have any suggestions?

If the dishwasher is brand new, then there is an issue with the configuration of the springs, i.e not mounted correctly. A factory dishwasher door should not need to be adjusted. However if it is older, it is possible that the springs came off, in which case they can be seen from the underside of the dishwasher and by a panel that unscrews on the bottom of the door. Make sure the springs are there.

G660 door falls open

Hi.

The problem is either because the spring supporting the door half way up is broken or because the spring must be adjusted.

First perform a door spring adjustment procedure as explained at page 28 in chapter 10 of the Installation Manual.

Here Miele installation manual for the G660. The file is in PDF format.

If the regulation procedure does not do the job, then the spring must be replaced.

This video shows how to replace the spring (model and manufacturer are different-operations are similar):

The spring is usually sold as part of the hinge assembly.

To get parts or to book a qualified technician call the Miele support number listed on the owners manual or use the Contact page on your local Miele website. Here UK website: Miele - Contact Us.

Regards.

The door of my Miele G646 SCI semi-integrated dishwasher has suddenly become stiff to move up or down. I am guessing there is a problem with the spring? Any suggestions what to try or how to get access?

Most probably the decor door has swollen and catching on adjoining cabinets. removed decor door via two screws down the left and right hand side of door and see if that helps. If springs snaps then the door will drop very quickly and take the skin off you shins

hi,

what you need to do is slack off the spring tension on the door hinges. each side of the unit at the base on the plinth there is a screw with a spring symbol next to it. turn this anti clockwise to reduce the spring tension.

Hope this helps

The door to my miele dishwasher does not spring closed and just lies flat when opened

The operative word is spring[s]. There are two springs to assist in lifting the door. One on each side. If your dishwasher is an older modell it is time to replace the springs because they are worn out.
