Since you do not have a dial tone, please ensure that the line coming from your telephone source is plugged into the LINE jack on the unit. If you are connecting a telephone or answering machine to the unit as well, you will want to plug them into to the EXT jack on the unit. For some reason the list of MX printers is cut short in the 800's. Go instead to this web page: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx922#BrochuresAndManuals
. If this link doesn't work, I got to it by locating the Canon support page and searching for PIXMA MX922 (Search Canon is at the upper right). However you get to the MX922 page, scroll down to "Recommended Downloads" and choose either MAC or Windows Manual in PDF Format. Good luck.

It is likely that the print-head temperature sensor is detecting an over heat. If that is the case, start thinking about a replacement machine as the printheads are expensive to replace.

From page 98 of the fax users manual:
"This report is printed after each fax reception.
• At the time of purchase, the machine is set so that RX REPORT is not printed at all.
You can set the machine to print RX REPORT each time it receives a document, or only when an error occurs by selecting RX report in Auto print settings under FAX settings."

You should have the manual on the cd that came with the printer. If not try the link listed.
