SOURCE: locate exploded drawing of poulan chain saw

I tried a couple locations and found a site that might help go to psep.biz and it will direct you to the blowup. It also indicated that it needed a type number so have that handy. If this doesn't help let me know and I will research further.

SOURCE: what is distance from coil to stator 14 in. poulan chain saw

I think you are asking for gap between the fly wheel and the ignition module. A business or index card works great. 0.1 - 0.3 mm. GL

My choke will no stay out on my poulan chain saw

Sounds like the choke latching system is not fully engaging if it is the W28 and on the P3516C. Some minor teaking of the latch may be all that is needed.

The choke on a Poulan Chain Saw that I just bought will not stay out to start it.

There are two types of choke systems, the basic choke has a ball and spring in the carb body which locks the choke either in or out, the other type is connected to the half throttle position, once pulled out it stays out, however if you lift the throttle trigger it will go back in on its own, queation, are you holding the throttle trigger whilst trying to start it, if so this is why it will not stay out, if this is not the case, pull the choke out with a little more force, it may be just not coming out enought to lock.

Chain saw won't start

Before you try to start it, push the primer bubble on the side 3 or 4 times, then pull the choke all the way out. On poulans they can be tricky. When pulling the choke button out, make sure it does not go back in. After you pull the crank rope and you hear it "hit" push the choke back in and pull the crank rope again. It should start after that. If it still won't start, check for a faulty spark plug.
