To reformat my recorder

There is no need to reformat your system and loose all of your data. Please post me back what operating system do you use in order to reply with details. Also clarify me if you have a clean installation cd/dvd (no factory recovery or restoration) of your op. system in order to get you the right details.

Waiting clarification, don't hesitate to post.

If you have tried removing and re-installing batteries and that didnt work you maybe should try reformatting...this will erase all files on handheld tho'...instructions for reformatting are in your operators manual or you can download a manual from www.olympusamerica.com

Try reformatting the yamaha 2G Pocketrak using the setting under Common. THe online manual mentions that if one uses the PCM setting for a lot of recording, it's a good idea to reformat more often.

You need to have it connected to your Mac and then empty your Trash (on the Mac) to clear the memory on the dictaphone.

Cd Recordable Disc cannot be reformat, unless you have use CD ReWritable Disc.

Hi,

Do you mean it always shows 10Gb less space than the capacity of the drive. ie only shows 150Gb but you have a 160Gb drive? The reason for this is that it has 10Gb reserved for the buffer of the pause/rewind live TV.

Plug in your recorder using the USB cable. Copy any of the files you see to your PC. Then reformat the drive. I don't have the exact details for doing this under windows but I fixed the problem this way.

I solved the problem by connecting my Sony IC Recorder to the USB port on my McBook Pro computer and then emptying the trash can on the Mac computer. Visually (flashing red indicator light) and audibly (the recorder's sound that indicates something being erased), it was clear that mp3 files were finally, really being erased on the Sony recorder even though the recorder's own screen display had previously shown only empty folders and no files. Dragging files to the trash can doesn't really erase them unless you also empty the trash. All dragging to the trash can does is somehow mark the files in a way that, unfortunately, makes them invisible to Sony's file detection system.
