SOURCE: I have a Technics SA-GX470.

I have not solved it yet. I did find a similar schematic of another model. I have gone over the entire board checking connections first. What I see is the minus 14 volt regular running very hot. The voltage is OK but there is something drawing a lot of current. The plus side is cool. I am in the process of looking at all the loads on it but believe it may be the main power module. This unit has two modules with the main one for the left and right speakers and another that is for the center and surround speakers. It is cool and guess the the main one may be bad. Panasonic is the only source for this one and that is doubtful. The prices I have found is around $60 and a little expensive to buy and just try. I am going to make sure it is the problem before I recommend they spend that much up front. Technics is a low end Panasonic product and I have found this to be a very troublesome unit as well as others. It's design is complicated as all Panasonic products are. I worked on this unit several years ago and the same problem went away. I suspect one of the output transistors in the module has gone rendering the whole thing bad. Whatever happened to a simple transistor replacement. I will keep you informed.

SOURCE: on switching my technics sa-dx750 it says switching off overload

The question is what is causing the overload? The power supply or the output devices on the heat sink?
If you have accidently shorted a speaker wire, then the answer will be output devices, otherwise it could be anything in the power section. You may find a burnt or damged device with either of the causes.

SOURCE: Overload at medium (4-6) volumes. Can you adjust or disable the overload protection on these Technics amps??

Check the power relay RL703, I have seen these with burned contacts cause this problem a few times on this unit. Replace relay or bypass the two normally closed contacts.

Clock display light won't turn off even with the unit off

Press and hold MODE and then press PRESET 1 to turn on or off the clock display priority. This should allow you to set if the clock stays on while the unit is off.

Aside from this, you may need to double check your wiring, specifically the RED and BLUE wires. The RED needs to be connected to a switched source of power and not directly to your battery/etc. It needs to be a source that is only ON when you want it to be ON (such as the ignition on wire). The YELLOW wire is the only one that should be connected directly to your battery.
Double check the BLUE wire is connected correctly to your AMP as the AMP running all the time would kill a car battery overnight where-as the stereo clock display alone should take many days to kill a properly functioning car battery.

No sound at all. Power is on and all lights light up, but so sound output regardless of speaker selected or input.

I do not have experience with this particular amp. Generic trouble shooting follows:

Might it be that you have headphones plugged in? (Unplug them, they turn off the speaker output) You are absolutely certain of the settings on your amp? (check them again) Are you certain you have an input? (AM, FM, CD, AUX, other) (Make sure the input is turned ON and the source is properly selected.

Is the output protected by a fuse or fuses? (look on the back panel for fuses or fuse holder)

Everything that is suppose to be plugged in IS plugged in ... all cables are intact? Did you check them for contunity? You can check contunity with a flashlight battery, the light of a flashlight and a paper clip.

Speaker selection switches are pressed as appropriate. Speakers are connected to the appropriate outputs and they are ON. Speakers are of proper rating - and resistance? 4 ohm - 8 ohm - 16 ohm??? Any controls on the speaker are set at a neutral setting?

I'm sorry your device is not functioning as you think it should. These things are designed to work and generally, they are pretty good at it. Sometimes, they just break (stop functioning) It may be that you will have to take it back from where you got it for repair or adjustment. But I am hoping you have the headphones plugged in.
