How to remove the battery of inspiron 2200

remove the cmos battery for 30 secs at least - usually works

also try looking in your manual for mention of a cmos reset jumper,
short these 2 pins and it should reset your bios to defaults and remove any passwords

How to skip:
1. Turn on the laptop.
2. Go into reclabiration.
3. when it says "Please remove the AC adapter" take ALL leads out of it.
4. Leave for about 10 mins.
5.Turn it off.
The battery reclabiration message should be gone.
If not, Your battery needs to be replaced.

You might be able to save some money by buying an aftermarket battery. Check eBay and compare prices.

...need more info for for complete fix...eg...detailed report what happen when you hit the power butten...eg, laptop running on mains and power button is pressed...what happens next? is there any noise, display, sounds etc

Try this trick. Remove the battery from the laptop and make sure the ac adapter is not plugged in also. Hold the power button for 30 seconds. Place the battery back in and see if it powers on. If not let me know.

Try to turn off the computer and remove the battery from the bottom of the notebook. Turn on the computer with just the charger plugged in. If it doesnt turn on. you may have a bad power port.

If it has no power/charging issue since that happened except that the indicator light doesnt turn on when you plug in the charger, you may just need a bios update. Click here. That's the bios update for the inspiron 2200 from dell's website. You should have at least 30% charge on the battery and the ac adapter should be plugged in so you can run it. The computer will restart and will come back normally after this. I'd suggest that you backup your files before running this.

The memory inside is fixed but there is an open slot . Just open the access panel on the back and the slot is there. You can add up to 1GB

take out the bios battery for an hour.
