NOTE

The transfer case is an integral part of the transmission housing. Although the 2 cases can be separated, the transfer case should be removed with the transmission.

Use a felt-tipped marker to matchmark the hood to the hood hinges. Remove the hood.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Shift the transmission into the N position, and the transfer case into the 2H position.

Remove the air cleaner assembly.

Remove the transfer case shift knob. Remove the 4 transmission cover console retaining screws.

Remove the center console assembly and disengage the console switch wiring connectors.

Disconnect the shift lock cable and the shift control rod from the selector lever assembly.

Unbolt and remove the transfer case control lever.

Raise and safely support the vehicle on jackstands.

Remove the transmission and transfer case skid plates.

Remove the exhaust pipe protectors.

Drain the transmission fluid. For more information servicing the transmission fluid pan and filter, refer to Section 1.

Label and detach the oxygen sensor connectors.

Remove the catalytic converter, center exhaust pipe and front exhaust pipe, as described in Section 3.

Matchmark the front and rear driveshafts to the differential and transfer case flanges.

Unbolt and remove the front and rear driveshafts, as described later in this section.

Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the transmission. Plug the lines to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

Remove the brackets securing the oil cooler lines to the engine stiffener.

Remove the front suspension crossmember.

Remove the dipstick and tube. Disconnect the breather hoses from the tube.

Remove the 5 engine stiffener bracket bolts and the stiffener bracket.

Remove the heat protector.

Disengage the transmission harness connectors and the mode switch harness connector from the engine harness.

Disconnect the harness clamp from the clamp bracket.

Disconnect the ground cable from the engine.

Remove the starter motor, as described in Section 2.

Remove the flexplate inspection cover.

Remove the 3 bolts securing the flexplate to the torque converter. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to all 3 bolts.

NOTE

Remove the radiator upper fan shroud and the cooling fan to access the crankshaft center bolt to turn the crankshaft.

Place a suitable transmission jack under the transmission and transfer case unit for support.

Raise the transmission slightly and remove the 8 bolts securing the rear mount and the transmission crossmember.

NOTE

Make sure the engine and transmission assembly is properly supported before removing the rear mount and third crossmember.

Raise the engine slightly with an engine hoist and remove the transmission-to-engine bolts.

Separate the transmission from the engine and lower the transmission from the vehicle.

      Turn the electricity to the air conditioning unit off at the
      service disconnect box. Follow the wires from the AC unit to the
      disconnect box, usually located next to the unit. Open the disconnect
      box and, depending on the type, either pull the buss-bar or flip the
      disconnect switch.





    • 2



      Open the air handler\'s access panels with the correct size of nut driver, usually 5/16- or 1/4-inch. Save the screws.









    • Remove the control panel\'s cover, if equipped, with a nut
      driver. Some models have a flat metal cover over the electronic
      controls, and some control panels butt up to the unit\'s access cover.
      Save the screws and access cover.





    • 4



      Follow the wires from the blower motor. Two wires will go to
      a capacitor located on the blower\'s housing. The rest of the wires will
      go to the control panel.





    • 5



      Cut the wires leading into the control panel with wire cutters. Leave the cut wires connected inside of the control panel.





    • 6



      Remove the retaining bolts with either a nut driver, usually
      3/8-inch, or an adjustable wrench. The retaining bolts, found on the
      mounting brackets that the blower\'s housing slides on, keep the blower\'s
      housing locked into position. Save the bolts.





    • 7



      Slide the blower motor\'s housing out of the AC unit. The housing will slide straight out along the mounting brackets.





    • 8



      Disconnect the two wires going to the capacitor. They will pull straight off the capacitor\'s terminals.





    • 9



      Unscrew the squirrel cage\'s locking-screw with an adjustable
      wrench. The squirrel cage, the bladed wheel, connects to the blower
      motor\'s shaft inside of the housing. The locking screw holds the
      squirrel cage to the shaft.





    • 10



      Unscrew the blower motor\'s mounting screws with either a nut
      driver, usually 3/8-inch, or an adjustable wrench. These screws hold
      the motor to the housing and are found on the opposite side of the
      squirrel cage, the same side that the wires leave the motor.





    • 11



      Pull the motor from the housing. A drop of oil on the shaft
      will aid in removal. If the squirrel cage sticks to the shaft, then hold
      the shaft still with an adjustable wrench while spinning the squirrel
      cage on the shaft.





    • 12



      Slide the new blower motor into the housing. The blower motor\'s shaft will slide into the squirrel cage\'s hole.





    • 13



      Tighten the blower motor\'s mounting screws.





    • 14



      Spin the blower motor\'s shaft until the flat part of the
      shaft lines up with the squirrel cage\'s locking screw. Move the squirrel
      cage in or out until it does not touch the housing or the blower motor.
      Tighten the locking screw.





    • 15



      Connect the blower motor\'s capacitor wires, usually brown or
      brown with white stripes, to the capacitor. Direct replacement motors
      use the same color-coded wires as the original.





    • 16



      Slide the blower motor\'s housing into the AC unit along the mounting brackets. Install the mounting bracket\'s retaining bolts.





    • 17



      Connect the new blower motor\'s wires in the control panel
      one at a time. Disconnect one old wire in the control panel. Determine
      its color and connect the new wire, of the same color, to its place. Do
      this for all wires.





    • 18



      Replace the control panel\'s cover, if equipped, and the
      unit\'s access cover. Turn on the power to the unit at the disconnect box
      and test the blower motor.

Walking camshaft on 99 dodge neon

  • 1 Park your Neon on a level surface. Engage the parking brake. Open the hood and loosen the bolt on the negative battery cable terminal and pull the cable from the battery.

    Remove the Neon air filter by undoing the side clips and lifting the cover of the air filter off. Pull the air filter from the bracket. Undo the clip on the air filter hose and pull the hose off the inlet. Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the four bolts holding the air filter bracket in place and pull the bracket from the engine

  • Locate the camshaft position sensor. It will be at the rear of the cylinder head, centered on where the air filter housing was about midway down. It will look like a black plastic square (4"x4") and have four bolts holding it to the engine.

  • 4

    Disconnect the wiring of the sensor from the wiring harness feeding into the car's electrical system. Press in the tabs at the sides of the connector and pull the two halves apart to do this.

  • 5

    Remove the four bolts holding the sensor in place and remove the sensor from the engine.

  • 6

    Clean the engine of any gasket material from the old sensor by scraping the surface gently with a paint scraper.

  • 7

    Install the new sensor by placing it in the same position as the old one, replacing the bolts and then connecting the wiring harness. Replace the air filter bracket, hose, filter and cover. Reconnect your battery and you are done.

  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the electrical connections from the back of the starter.
  4. Remove the bell-housing cover.
  5. Remove the starter support bracket bolt from the engine block.
  6. Unfasten the starter motor-to-engine bolts, then carefully lower the starter.
  7. Remove the nuts/bolts that hold the starter support bracket to the starter. To install:
  8. Transfer the starter support bracket to the new starter if the starter is being replaced.
  9. Raise the starter into position and secure the starter using the starter motor-to-engine bolts. Tighten the bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).
  10. Install the starter support bracket-to-engine bolt to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
  11. Install the bell-housing cover.
  12. Install the starter electrical connections on the back of the starter. Tighten the "S'' terminal to 22 inch lbs. (2.5 Nm) and the battery terminal to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  13. Carefully lower the vehicle, then connect the negative battery cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.
  2. Detach the air inlet duct from the throttle body.
  3. Remove the top starter bolt.

  7. Position the starter to enable access to the solenoid wiring, then detach the wiring.
  8. Remove the starter from the vehicle. To install:
  9. Raise the starter to the vehicle, then attach the wiring.
  10. Position the starter, then secure using the lower starter bolt. Tighten to 66 ft. lbs. (90 Nm)
  11. If moved, reposition the engine wiring harness.
  12. Carefully lower the vehicle.

Blower Motor Removal & Installation Front To Remove:
NOTE: The blower motor is positioned on the passenger side of the vehicle beneath the instrument panel, and can be removed from the vehicle without removing the HVAC housing.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Passenger side cowl trim panel
    • Carpet to access the front upper screw that secures the air inlet housing
    • Recirculation door actuator
    • Recirculation door actuator wire lead from the routing clip located on the lower air inlet housing and position the wire lead aside
    • Blower motor wire lead connector from the blower motor resistor or power module, depending on application. Lower Air Inlet Housing chr_pacific_lwr_inlt_hsng.gif

    • One screw (from the top) that secures the lower air inlet housing to the upper air inlet housing
    • Four screws (from the bottom) that secure the lower air inlet housing to the upper air inlet housing and remove the lower HVAC housing Blower Motor Wire Lead Grommet chr_pacific_blwr_wrg_grmmt.gif

  3. Feed the rubber blower motor wire lead grommet through the opening in the lower air inlet housing.
  4. Push the blower motor wire lead through the opening in the lower air inlet housing and remove the lower air inlet housing from the vehicle.
  5. Place the recirculation-air door as needed to access and remove the three screws that secure the blower motor to the lower half of the HVAC housing.
  6. Lightly bend the recirculation air door far enough down to remove the blower motor and wheel from the HVAC housing. Blower Motor Mounting Tabs blwr_mnting_tabs.gif

  7. Remove the blower motor and wheel from the HVAC housing. Make a note of the location of the blower motor mounting tabs.
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Blower motor and wheel to the lower half of the HVAC housing and line up the blower motor mounting tabs to the correct location on the HVAC housing
    • Blower motor and wheel into the HVAC housing by lightly bending the recirculation-air door far enough down
    • Three screws that secure the blower motor to the HVAC housing by positioning the recirculation-air door as needed
      1. Torque to: 17 inch lbs. (2 Nm)
    • Blower motor wire lead through the opening in the lower air inlet housing and seat the rubber grommet into the lower air inlet housing
    • Recirculation-air door pivot into the lower air inlet housing
    • Four screws (from the bottom) that secure the lower air inlet housing to the upper air inlet housing and the lower HVAC housing
      1. Torque to: 17 inch lbs. (2 Nm)
    • One screw (from the top) that secures the lower air inlet housing to the upper air inlet housing
      1. Torque to: 17 inch lbs. (2 Nm)
    • Blower motor wire lead connector to the blower motor resistor or power module, depending on application
    • Recirculation door actuator wire lead into the routing clip located on the lower air inlet housing
    • Recirculation door actuator
    • Carpet
    • Passenger side cowl trim panel
    • Negative battery cable
  2. Perform the heater-A/C control calibration procedure.
Rear To Remove:
NOTE: The rear blower motor and blower wheels are repaired only as a balanced unit. The entire blower motor and wheel assembly must be replaced if either component is fault or damaged.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Front center floor console cover
    • Negative battery cable Rear Blower Motor Housing chr_pacific_rear_blwr_hsng.gif

    • Body wire harness connectors from the rear blower motor power module and the rear mode door actuator
    • Body wire harness bracket from the console support bracket
    • Eight screws and the two console support brackets from the floor console base and duct assembly

    • Rear blower motor wire harness connector from the power module
    • Eleven retaining clips and three screws that secure the housing together

    • Rear blower motor into the housing and install the blower motor wire harness and grommet
    • Two halves of the rear blower motor housing and install the eleven retaining clips and three screws
      1. Torque to: 17 inch lbs. (2 Nm)
    • Rear blower motor wire harness connector to the rear blower motor power module
    • Rear blower motor housing into the floor console
    • Four screws that secure the rear blower motor housing to the floor console base
      1. Torque to: 17 inch lbs. (2 Nm)
      2. Two console support brackets onto the floor console base
      3. Eight screws that secure the support brackets to the floor console base
        1. Torque to: 17 inch lbs. (2 Nm)
      4. Body wire harness bracket onto the console rear support bracket
      5. Body wire harness connectors to the rear blower motor power module and the rear mode door actuator
      6. Negative battery cable
      7. Front center floor console
  2. Calibrate the A/C-heater control.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. From inside engine compartment, detach sensor assembly 2-pin connector from the wiring harness.
  3. Remove the steel routing clip attaching the sensor wire to the tube bundle on the left sensor or remove the plastic routing clip attaching the sensor wire to the frame on the right sensor.
  4. Remove the rubber coated spring steel clip holding the sensor wire to the frame.
  5. Remove the sensor wire from the steel routing clip on the frame and from the dust shield.
  6. Remove the sensor attaching bolt from the front spindle and slide the sensor out of the mounting hole. To install:
  7. Install the sensor into the mounting hole in the front spindle and attach with the mounting bolt. Tighten to 40–60 inch lbs. (4.5–6.8 Nm).
  8. Insert the sensor routing grommets into the dust shield and steel bracket on the frame. Route the wire into the engine compartment.
  9. Install the rubber coated steel clip that holds the sensor wire to the frame into the hole in the frame.
  10. Install the steel clip that holds sensor wire to tube bundle on left side or plastic clip that holds sensor to frame on right side.
  11. Reconnect the 2-pin connector to wire harness. Connect the negative battery cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. From inside luggage compartment, detach 2-pin sensor connector from wiring harness and push sensor wire through hole in floor.
  3. From below vehicle, remove sensor wire from routing bracket located on top of rear axle carrier housing and remove steel clip holding sensor wire and brake tube against axle housing.
  4. Remove screw from clip holding sensor wire and brake tube to bracket on axle.
  5. Remove sensor to rear adapter retaining bolt and remove sensor. To install:
  6. Insert sensor adapter and install retaining bolt. Tighten to 40–60 inch lbs. (4.5–6.8 Nm).
  7. Attach the clip holding the sensor and brake tube to the bracket on the axle housing and secure with the retaining screw. Tighten the screw to 40–60 inch lbs. (4.5–6.8 Nm).
  8. Install steel clip around axle tube that holds sensor wire and brake tube against axle tube and push spool-shaped grommet into clip located on top of axle carrier housing.
  9. Push sensor wire connector up through hole in floor and seat large round grommet into hole.
  10. Reconnect sensor 2-pin connector to wiring harness inside luggage compartment.

How do you remove the ignition coil

Each ignition control module (ICM) has the following circuits:
An ignition 1 voltage circuit A chassis ground An ignition control circuit for each cylinder A low reference circuit
The PCM controls spark by pulsing the ignition control circuits to the ICM to trigger the coils and fire the spark plugs. The PCM and ICM are internally protected against shorts to power and ground on the ignition control circuits.

The spark plugs are connected to each coil by a short boot. The boot contains a spring that conducts the spark energy from the coil to the spark plug. The spark plugs are tipped with platinum for long wear and higher efficiency.

Removal & Installation
2.2L (L61) Engine
  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the accelerator cable from the bracket.
  3. Remove the accelerator cable bracket bolt.
  4. Remove the accelerator cable bracket.
  5. Disconnect the ignition control module (ICM) harness connector.
  6. Remove the ICM retaining screws.
  7. Remove the ICM from the ignition coil housing.

To install:
  1. Install the ignition control module in the ignition coil housing.
  2. Install the ICM retaining screws. Tighten the retaining screws.
  3. Connect the ICM harness connector.
  4. Install the accelerator cable bracket.
  5. Install the accelerator cable bracket bolt. Tighten the retaining screws.
  6. Install the accelerator cable to the bracket.

2.2L (Ln2) Engine
  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet from the air cleaner.
  2. Remove the ICM electrical connectors (1) and spark plug wires (2).
  3. Remove the ignition coils bolts (3).
  4. Remove the ignition coils and ICM assembly.
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

2.4L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the accelerator cable from the hold down clip.
  3. Remove the cruise control cable, if applicable.
  4. Remove the bolt from the fuel line retaining clip.
  5. Disconnect the 11-pin harness connector for the ignition control module (ICM).
  6. Remove the bolts from the ignition coil and the ICM assembly-to-camshaft housing.
  7. Remove the ignition coil and ICM assembly from the engine.
  8. Remove the screws that retain the housing to the cover.
  9. Disconnect the coil harness connector from the ICM.
    CAUTION When removing the housing from the cover, make sure the ground strap stays in place.
  10. Remove the housing from the cover.
  11. Remove the screws that retain the ICM to the cover.
  12. Remove the ICM from the cover.

To install:

CAUTION DO NOT wipe grease from the module or coil if the same module is to be replaced. If a new module is to be installed, a package of silicone grease will be included with the module. Spread the grease on the metal face of the module and on the cover where the module seats. This grease is necessary for module cooling.
  1. Install the ICM to the cover.
  2. Install the screws that retain the ICM to the cover.
  3. Install the ground strap, if necessary.
  4. Connect the ignition coils connector to the ICM.
    CAUTION When installing the housing to the cover, make sure the ground strap stays in place.
  5. Install the housing to the cover.
  6. Install the screws that retain the housing to the cover.
  7. Install the spark plug boots and the retainers to the housing, if necessary.
  8. Install the ICM assembly to the engine while carefully aligning the spark boots to the spark plug terminals.
    CAUTION The ICM cover bolts must be installed using isolator washers with the rubber side facing down.
  9. Install the bolts that retain the ICM assembly to the camshaft housing after coating the bolt threads with LOCTITE, or equivalent. Tighten the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  10. Connect the ICM 11 pin harness connector.
  11. Install the bolt to the fuel line retainer clip.
  12. Install the accelerator cable into the hold down clip.

SECTION 303-03: Engine Cooling 2001 Villager Workshop Manual
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Water Pump Removal
  1. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling And Bleeding .
  1. Remove the crankshaft pulley. Refer to Section 303-01 .
  1. Remove the water pump pulley.
    1. Remove the bolts.
    1. Remove the water pump pulley.
  1. Remove the six lower timing belt cover bolts.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Remove the upper radiator hose.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    1. Release the clamps.
    1. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  1. Remove the coolant bypass hose.
    1. Release the clamps.
    1. Remove the coolant bypass hose.
  1. Remove the A/C compressor idler pulley and bracket.
    1. Remove the bolts.
    1. Remove the A/C compressor idler pulley and bracket.
  1. Position the wire harness aside.
    1. Unclip the wire harness.
    1. Position the wire harness aside.
  1. Disconnect the vacuum reservoir vacuum hose.
  1. Unclip and reposition the main wire harness.
  1. Unclip the wire harness and position aside.
  1. Position the wire harness bracket aside.
    1. Unclip the spark plug wire from the bracket.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    1. Position the wire harness bracket aside.
  1. Remove the PCV breather hoses and tube.
    1. Release the clamps.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    1. Remove the PCV breather hoses and tube.
  1. Remove the upper and lower timing belt covers.
    1. Remove the seven upper timing belt cover bolts.
    1. Remove the upper and lower timing belt covers.
  1. NOTE: Note the location of the stud upon removal.
    Remove the water pump.
    1. Remove the six bolts.
    1. Remove the water pump.
Installation
  1. NOTE: Apply a 2.0-3.0mm (0.079-0.118 inch) bead of Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent meeting Ford Specification WSK-M2G343-A4 to the mounting surface of the water pump.

MY 2001 TAHOE FAILED THE SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE THE "IDLER" ARM HAS A "FAIR AMOUNT OF PLAY. IS THEIR ANYTHING I CAN DO SHORT OF REPLACING THE ENTIRE IDLER ARM?

yes the entire idler arm needs replacement to clear this problem.

you will need to remove the alternator to replace the idler arm pulley
Disconnect the negative, then the positive battery cables.
Remove the battery from the vehicle.
Remove the battery tray using the following procedure:
Remove the four battery tray bolts.
Remove the battery tray from the vehicle.
Remove the serpentine drive belt.
Remove the cooling fan assembly using the following procedure:
Remove the wishbone-shaped engine mount strut by removing the bolts and nuts at the engine mount bracket and on the upper radiator support.
Remove the strut from the vehicle.
Disconnect the cooling fan harness from the engine wiring harness.
Reposition the wiring harness at the upper radiator support.
Remove the cooling fan shroud bolts.
Remove the right side radiator bracket.
Remove the cooling fan shroud with the electric cooling fan motors and fans as an assembly.
Remove the thermostat housing and the radiator hose using the following procedure.
Partially drain the engine coolant.
Use hose clamp pliers to remove the radiator hose clamp to the water inlet housing and disconnect the radiator hose.
Use hose clamp pliers to remove the heater hose clamp to the water inlet housing and disconnect the heater hose from the water inlet housing.
Use hose clamp pliers to remove the surge tank inlet hose clamp from the water inlet housing and disconnect the surge tank hose from the water inlet housing.
Remove the water inlet housing bolts and remove the water inlet housing.
Remove the outboard generator bolt and loosen the inboard bolt.
Remove the idler pulley bolt and idler pulley.
Unplug the electrical connector from the alternator.
Pull back the protective boot from the alternator "BAT" terminal, remove the nut and disconnect the heavy "BAT" wire from the alternator terminal stud.
Remove the alternator from the vehicle.
To Install:
Position the alternator to the engine.
Plug in the electrical connectors and install the heavy "BAT" wire to the alternator terminal stud. Tighten the nut to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm). Press the protective boot back in place over the stud terminal and nut assembly.
Install the outboard alternator bolt into the alternator housing.
Install the inboard alternator bolt and then finger-tighten the outboard bolt.
Install the idler pulley and idler pulley bolt.
Tighten the bolts in the following torque sequence:
Tighten the idler pulley bolt to 37 ft lbs. (50 Nm).
Tighten the alternator bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
Install the water inlet and thermostat housing and the radiator hose, observing the following:
Inspect and clean the mating surfaces on the thermostat cover and its mounting surface on the engine.
Use RTV Sealer GM #1052366 or equivalent on the mounting bolts since the threaded openings are open to the cooling system and the torque requirement is low.
Install the water inlet and thermostat housing and tighten the bolts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the water inlet housing.
Connect the heater hose to the water inlet housing.
Connect the radiator hose to the water inlet housing.
Install the cooling fan assembly and tighten the radiator bracket bolts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm). Plug in the wiring harness at the upper radiator support. Plug in the cooling fan wiring harness to the engine wiring harness.
Install the engine mount strut bracket to the upper radiator support first, insert the through bolt. Attach the engine side of the strut to the engine mount strut bracket on the engine and install the through bolt. Thread the nuts on the through bolts and tighten to 35 ft. lbs. (48 Nm).
Install the battery tray and tighten the bolts to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
Install the battery.
Install the serpentine drive belt.
Connect the positive, then the negative battery cables.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the electrical connections from the back of the starter.
  4. Remove the bell-housing cover.
  5. Remove the starter support bracket bolt from the engine block.
  6. Unfasten the starter motor-to-engine bolts, then carefully lower the starter.
  7. Remove the nuts/bolts that hold the starter support bracket to the starter.
To install:
  1. Transfer the starter support bracket to the new starter if the starter is being replaced.
  2. Raise the starter into position and secure the starter using the starter motor-to-engine bolts. Tighten the bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm).
  3. Install the starter support bracket-to-engine bolt to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
  4. Install the bell-housing cover.
  5. Install the starter electrical connections on the back of the starter. Tighten the S terminal to 22 inch lbs. (2.5 Nm) and the battery terminal to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  6. Carefully lower the vehicle, then connect the negative battery cable.
2.3L (VIN D) and 2.4L (VIN T) Engines

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.
  2. Detach the air inlet duct from the throttle body.
  3. Remove the top starter bolt.
  4. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  5. Remove the lower starter retaining bolt.
  6. If necessary, position the engine wiring harness aside.
  7. Position the starter to enable accese to the solenoid wiring, then detach the wiring.
  8. Remove the starter from the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Raise the starter to the vehicle, then attach the wiring.
  2. Position the starter, then secure using the lower starter bolt. Tighten to 66 ft. lbs. (90 Nm)
  3. If moved, reposition the engine wiring harness.
  4. Carefully lower the vehicle.
  5. Install the top starter bolt, then tighten to 66 ft. lbs. (90 Nm).
  6. Fasten the air inlet duct to the throttle body.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
