Atec two wheel pitching machine when in sunlight melting off wheel rim ($695 for two)
I Sprayed with a can of flex seal... and it did the trick.
Both wheels would get gummy and start to melt/drip whenever it would get hot. When the weather got cooler, I sanded some of the uneven parts down with sandpaper... then sprayed with a can of flex seal. It seemed to firm everything up.
It’s way too expensive of a machine to have the wheels melt and fall apart. 600+ for replacement wheels is a scam.
First thing is to be sure the wheels are oem. Second would be to attempt to shade it or paint the rims on the wheel silver to reflect the heat. If is most likely the glue used on the rims is a heat set adhesive and melts at about 140 F
no, it actually melts, dripping melts. in the sun they are fine, if you cover them like with plastic, a bucket, or a garbage can then they melt quickly.
Put a mark on one rim and another on the tire to see if the rim is slipping in the tire bead
Geez. They melt. Cover the machine OR take it inside. Also it just happens. I'm 50+, got our machine from my elementary/middle school coach. The wheels were pure black gum. It happens... the machine worked perfectly.
...Meanwhile, I've recently purchased two new M2 machines & two ball feeders. I must say the quality and customer service has gone downhill, and there are other companies to consider. That hurt's my heart to say.
Lastly, I managed a successful Grand Slam USA franchise for four years. I used to be partial to ATEC. Now it's just, "Eh."
