SOURCE: I have a mini fridge

Hi ejb9,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You have a mini fridge at school, a small Haier. Your fridge is getting power and the motor gets very hot but the fridge is not cooling, not even a little... any ideas???

May be low on freon or cloged expantion valve. You're going to need a certified tech to check and repair. Maybe it's time to look at the cost of repair verses replacement.

SOURCE: OSTER WINE COOLER

I followed the advice of Ancient Bob and located the heat shrinked fuse as he described. I removed it from the circuit board using a very small tipped soldering iron and repaced it with an inline fuse holder with about 1" leads(Radio Shack or Auto Parts store) and carefully soldered it in place on the circuit board. This makes a fuse replacement a snap if necessary later..I used a 5A 250V fuse as original. It has been running fine for two weeks now, I think the fuse in question blows if the ambient temperature gets too high in the room-a design defect (my opinion). As Ancient Bob said, the total cost was about six dollars icluding 3 extra fuses. Care must be taken when removing the solder, or resoldering the circuit board. It's not complicated but must not be sloppy. After removing the original fuse I drilled out the circuit board fuse holes (they may fill with solder as a byproduct of removing the fuse) with a tiny drill bit to make the installation of the inline fuse neat and easy. Good Luck

SOURCE: Everstar Beverage/Wine Cooler HDBC36ID not cooling

I returned our unit to Home Depot with relative ease... I think they were all aware there is a problem with these units.

They refunded the full purchase price (even though I was well past the 12-month warranty period). I put the money toward a GE Profile unit that's a little bigger - more expensive, yes; but it works, priceless!

Haier model #hvw18 wine cooler does not turn on

The compressor is what causes your cooler to cool down. If the compressor is not working properly, it could cause temperature issues. The compressor may, for some reason, not be getting enough power, and it is not starting properly. Alternatively, it may be overheating, causing it to malfunction.

I have a Haier wine cooler BC112C. The compressor will not kick in (but I can hear the relay switch engaging) unless I plug and unplug the unit 4 or 5 times, then the compressor cools to the proper...

Hi!
That is probably the compressor relay
The relay is on the compressor and needs replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay

Power surge caused wine cooler to quit cooling

Power surges, spike and brown-outs are a nemesis to small refrigeration units. The capacitor for the compressor likey was affected and possibly the start components in general, especially if the unit was operating when the surge occured.

Making clicking sound motor gets hot but not cooling

Your PTC relay on the compressor is bad needs to be replaced.

First be sure to unplug cooler. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken
