On the diagnostic plug under the bonnet you can bridge out TE1 and E1 and read the fault code on the cluster if it gives any. Is it a 1993 to 1997 model.

SOURCE: torque settings for big ends on a 97 toyota camry 220sei

On the V-6 it's 25 Nm (18 ft lbs) on the first pull and then you rotate the next pull 90 degrees using a torque angle wrench.

Checking the specifications for the four cylinder:
25 Nm (18 ft lbs) on first pull and 90 degrees
on the second pull using a torque angle wrench.

SOURCE: toyota camry 220sei 1996 model My proplem is the automatic transmission changes to 1,2,3 but does dot reach fourth at all. the revs are correct but the transmission does not change. Also when I start

The check engine light is telling you that a fault has been detected in the systems that the cpu monitors. With the gears not changing to over drive I would guess that the fault would be a solenoid for overdrive has failed. Have the fault codes read

On my transit connect 55 reg when i turn key my rev counter goes to highest and stays there

In the Transit connect, they have plug in connections to the dial, these often vibrate loose, its a case of taking the clock out and pushing the plugs back in!!

My 2001 tundra turns over and everything works but wont start has half tank gas

If it has known good spark and fuel pressure try spraying carb cleaner in the throttle body while cranking engine to see if it will crank.

My toyota camry 220sei does not start. battery fully charged, enough fuel. the engine swings but it does on and running. sometines I can smell petrol, however I can't see any petrol around the engine.

cranks but will not start, clear as day, (few are) and floods.
no year, stated. not that makes this so very hard,
220sei? what is that? are you trying to say XV20?
no engine stated, nor country.
so i spin the wheel if fortune and land, 1996, XV20
and USA< and 3.0 L 1MZ-FE V6 engine.

  1. fuses good, ? "tested"
  2. keyon CEL lamp in cluster glows, if not PCM has no power. or lamp bad, fix that.
  3. connect scan tool crank for 5seconds, oh my gosh the PCM knows what's bad.? 1987 to now at least, all cars. so it says cam, crank sensors. or spark is bad.? DTC errors??????
  4. did you check for spark on all 6 cylinders, (do that tuneup now?, long forgot for 10 years?)
  5. eg: i got spark but timing is off, cam drive slipped, is why. omg , I fail edto do my timing belt service, if car has VVT boom you bent all the valves, many for sure. or just one bank. non VVT this does not happen,,3LV6
  6. ok , i checked compression, all are over 150, I now have spark and it still floods. so i Pull the fuel pump relay. and clear the flood and try test fuel it runs great for 3 second, cool !
  7. i then diagnose flooding, causes. (leaking injectors or too high fuel pressure.) and more. lots ,more but ILL stop, as fueling tests are long and tedious. (can show all)

Transmission wont shift into any gear

if you can shift gears with car off might be the clutch or slave cylinder. If you can start the car in gear, clutch pushed in and doesnt try take off probally not slave cylinder. But if it tries to take off, slave cylinder. Now if it doesnt try to take off, ease clutch out. Does it move or just rev up? If it revs up likely the tranny. But if it moves can you shift thru all gears,if so clutch is shot.
