It still charges fine and it will bring up the logo and load, but then the screen showings black (its still on - it doesnt turn off) and it wont load the windows after or boot up properly, just stays on the black lit up screen. and I cant locate where the battery is so i cant take it out and hold the power button or anything. Need help please!!

AvioriX is right your operating system is gone.
if u dont have restore disk get a windows xp program disk from walmart or target or office supply store and load operating system from it.(this will only load windows xp.) but will bring computer back up

I had trouble looking up that model on the HP page, but you should check this page and see if this model is affected by this NVidia litigation. If it is, you can get it fixed/replaced on NVidia's dime.

it is possible that if you changed the battery you forfot to move the slide button next to the battery to the correct position. It often happens to me :-) Please check it, its on the right top corner of the battery, you should not see the red marking, if there is the correct position.
