I have the same problem. I blinks a small window right in the middle of the screen that says "auto adjustment locked". There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how often or when it blinks. It seems to be totally random. Can't get it to go away. Now it has started shutting off randomly as well.

This just started a few weeks after I got my new computer. I have downloaded the latest driver. I use Vista with NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT.

    It is making me nuts.

Same problem. Can't fix. Downloaded driver. No help. I pressed down the
menu key (1st left) and wedged small piece cardboard to hold that key
down and that's the only way I have stopped that annoying menu from popping up in the middle of my screen.

I have tried all the suggestions presented but nothing stops these annoying SyncMaster Magic Bright Automatic monitor settings adjustment boxes from flashing on my screen. The only relief I can get is when I manually hold the settings button down so that I can see. The image/picture with this monitor is fantastic but I will never purchase another Syncmaster or monitor with automatic settings.

I clamped the third button (with the return bent arrow key). This works. However, when the display goes dark for a second and repeats in several seconds, I press the menu or two buttons at the same time, and hold them down for a few seconds, the display seems to work OK for a long time. When I shut down the monitor, I turn the power off to it and leave the third button clamped.

I have the same problem, only with the Samsung 720n monitor. Accept the monitor buttons hardly work at all, so holding a key wont help. Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix it, because I understand that installing a driver might not be the solution.

Kick the poo out the door, throw a hissy, Stomp around a bit, Go to the store, buy another POS that will be jacked up in 6 months, be happy for that time, then start all over again.
Well, that is what I think that I am going to do.

SAMSUNG 731N BLACK AND BLANCK SCREEN

Hello,

The Samsung 731N monitors use the ILPI-013 power supply board. The capacitors on this board can cause the issues you are having when they start to fail. Here is a link to some information about replacing the capacitors on the board and repairing the unit.

My monitor menu on my samsung syncmaster 731n keeps popping up on the screen and I cant get it to stop

this is a normal condition for that kind of monitor, because it was design only with Samsung syncmaster 731n in which the old model. The reason why it always popping up is because it always adjust the setting of the images. The only way to solve this problem is if this menu appears again you only press the reset button there at the left side of the power button.

Samsung 731N Auto Adjustment

I'm having the same problem. Started three days ago. Really annoying. First I downloaded a driver because that was reccommended over plug and play. But that did not fix the problem. I ended up pressing the menu key (1st on left) and while holding it down I wedged a little piece of paper to hold the key down and the popup menu's have stopped. The box can be the brightness/contrast or auto/image reset/color reset ...
it doesn't matter, they all popup after pressing buttons left and right. Have no answer to correct the problem but at least I can now compute without these stupid menus.
