Try replacing battery (ies) sounds like this might be the issue. If it was working then stopped it would probably be the charge running down. With all kinds of electrically powered devices that have rechatgeable batteried folk do not realise that they have to be replaced occasionally, especially if the device is subject to heavy use.
The sign that a battery needs replacement is that it indicates that it has received a full charge but, almost immediately, runs don when when put into service. Had the same problem with my drill / drive 2 hours ago, need a new battery even though fully charged it does not rotate.

GOOD LUCK

Jamie, sounds like a bad battery, try and recharge battery. You may have to find a small electronics shop to check battery and charger to verify if they are any good.

SOURCE: gator will only drive in reverse

I would replace the reverse switch as seen in here http://www.shopjandl.com/mepu0003.html and also the high low switch for this peg perego gator.
Sometimes the high/low switch will cause it to not go in reverse, so I would replace both switches in the shifter just to make sure.
They are really easy to replace. You can call these guys http://www.shopjandl.com/.
They know what they are talking about because they sell and repair them.

SOURCE: !st gear won't work

I would replace the shifter assembly. It seems to be a better upgrade with the switches built into the shifter itself. It also has the wiring with it.
As long as the battery seems to work and the motors are going in one of the speeds, then there is not much to the vehicle.
It is a specific Peg Perego Switch assembly.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: No 1st or Reverse, but will go in 2nd

I just bought one for kids for christmas. Out of the box the switch was already installed. Only worked in 2nd gear. I pulled switch and it only hooks up one direction. Under dump bed theres a cover that lifts up and 2 wires goin to each wheel. The wires to the right wheel were unhooked. As soon as i hooked them up 1st and reverse started working. Dont know if this is the case for yours but worth a try.

sounds like you have a bad motor, you'll need to pull the dump bed off to acess the motors and disconnect one and then see if it works

Peg Perego John Deere Gator left wheel wont engage in 2nd gear, just replaced both motors and problem still exists. Any help?

disconnect the wires from one of the motors and check to see if it works in all gears, then do this with the other motor, then swap the wires from the left side to the right and vice versa, if both wheels spin in all the gears then you need a new shifter switch

Goes in 1st and Reverse but not 2nd

Something you may want to check is to see if there is a "governor" for the 2nd gear. My 4 year old has a 4x4 similiar to this and the only two gears that worked were 1st & reverse until my husband had to unscrew a piece from the 2nd gear setting..check the manual or if you don't have one, look online through the manufacturers website. I hope this helps!
